Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) is a syndrome of unpleasant bladder sensations and lower urinary tract symptoms. We report a case of inflammatory pseudotumour (IP) and pseudomembranous cystitis (PC) in a young female patient who presented with gross haematuria and clot retention. Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) is a rare disorder that is characterized by hypereosinophilia and organ damage, caused by the infiltration of eosinophils. In rare cases, the urinary bladder may also be involved. The current case report presented a 56-year-old male with gross hematuria and hypereosinophilia. Emphysematous cystitis (EC) and emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) are the result of infection of the urinary bladder and kidneys by gas-producing microorganisms. Those infections are most often reported in diabetic patients and rarely occur concurrently. This article describes two cases of concurrent EC and EPN, one in a nondiabetic dog and the other in a diabetic cat. The use of diagnostic imaging is necessary in the diagnosis of emphysematous infections. Both radiography and ultrasonography were used in the diagnosis of EC and EPN in the patients described in this report.

Emphysematous cystitis is a relatively rare disease characterized by the presence of gas in the bladder wall and/or lumen. The primary risk factor is diabetes mellitus. Emphysematous cystitis should be considered in cases of urinary tract infections in diabetic patients with unusual presentations. Imaging studies are necessary to detect emphysematous cystitis. From 2005 to 2013, 106 patients with post-coital cystitis underwent surgery. A case is reported in which docetaxel was used to treat a patient with hormone refractory metastatic prostate cancer. The treatment was terminated at the third course of docetaxel following the development of hemorrhagic cystitis. This reaction was unexpected, as it is not a known reaction to docetaxel. Hemorrhagic cystitis has been associated with cyclophosphamide, where the metabolite acrolein has been implicated. The mechanism of this reaction from docetaxel is not yet known.
