Introduction Accurate interpretation of radiographic images is crucial for general dentists in making diagnoses and treatment decisions for … gnoses, which achieved an accuracy of 68% against a definitive biopsy. ORADIII accurately diagnosed dentigerous cysts in five out of six instances. However, statistical analysis revealed a significant difference at the 0.05 level, indicating that the oral radiologist's top differential diagnosis was more accurate than ORADIII's. Conclusion While ORADIII demonstrat …

We describe the case of a 53-year-old patient who presented with an intermittent discharging sinus on his face which, following a number of investigations, was found to be secondary to an ectopic third molar in the condylar region. The ectopic tooth was surgically removed with complete resolution of the facial swelling. This case highlights the possibility of dental pathology presenting with completely unrelated signs and symptoms, and the importance of the clinician maintaining an open mind when it comes to the differential diagnosis of such a presentation.

It is clear that the dental profession has entered a new age of radiographic diagnostic imaging. A number of examples have shown that being able to visualize oral and maxillofacial pathologic entities in three dimensions assists in diagnosing and planning the appropriate treatment. The technology is an improvement for our profession and for the patients it serves.

Kissing molars (KMs) is an extremely rare condition of impacted third molars, pointed in the opposite direction in a single follicular space; it consists exactly in a full impacted of permanent molars which occurs only in the lower jaw. Actually, about less than thirty cases have been reported in scientific literatures. The aetiology and pathogenesis of this pathological double dental inclusion remain unknown; above all events that lead two molars to appear, as KMs remain mysterious. The association to metabolic connective diseases such as mucopolysaccharidosis was emphasized. KMs considered a

Objective: To analyze the imaging features of cone-beam CT (CBCT) of ameloblastoma (AB), odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) and dentigerous cysts (DC) associated with the mandibular impacted third molars,so as to provide useful information for differential diagnosis of these lesions. Methods: The patients who were with complete clinical data, pathological diagnosis and CBCT images from AB, OKC and DC around the mandibular impacted third molars were collected in Peking University Hospital of Stomatology from August 2016 to December 2021. A total of 109 patients (14 were diagnosed as AB, 23 were diagn…

The intimate position of the maxillary sinus to the apices of teeth creates problems if periapical inflammation occurs. This can lead to a perforation into the sinus and cause sinusitis. Persistent and complicated situations that do not respond after nonsurgical root canal treatment demand a suitable surgical therapy. Knowledge of the specific anatomic conditions, an adequate diagnosis, and an appropriate surgical procedure facilitate success rates that are comparable with those obtained in other regions, even in unfavorable initial conditions.

BACKGROUND: Multiple calcifying hyperplastic dental follicles (MCHDF) is a rare disorder that is characterized by multiple impacted teeth and enlarged dental follicles that include calcifications. The current lack of information characterizing MCHDF impedes clinicians from making prompt differential diagnoses. We describe five cases of MCHDF and analyze their clinical and histopathological features in an effort to compare MCHDF with hyperplastic dental follicles (HDF) of singly impacted teeth.
METHODS: Our five cases of MCHDF were examined and clinically/histologically compared with data from

Pathologic changes related to impacted teeth are infrequent. However, considerable damage to bone and adjacent teeth may result if they do occur. Four patients are described in whom different circumstances existed with impacted teeth. Extractions are indicated when the anatomic location of the impacted teeth is most favorable and when the patient's systemic and hematologic condition is least compromising, even if the teeth are asymptomatic at that time.

Mucopolysaccharidosis type IIIB (MPS IIIB) is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme a-N-acetylglucosaminidase. Affected subjects present developmental delay, attention deficit disorder, uncontrollable hyperactivity, and aggressive behavior, followed by progressive dementia and death in late adolescence. The purpose of this paper is to report the dental findings and treatment in a child with MPS IIIB. His primary molars and permanent mandibular incisors presented obliterated pulp chambers and root canals, which may be a clinical manifestation of this disor

UNLABELLED: Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) is a group of rare and inherited metabolic disorders caused by the accumulation of macromolecule gly … furcation lesions (p=0.032), condylar hypoplasia (p<0.001), radiolucent bone lesions (p=0.001), and dentigerous cysts (p=0.002) were also more frequent in MPS individuals.
CONCLUSION: The presence of specific oral manifestations is more common in MPS individuals than non-MPS individuals.

PURPOSE: In the standard Caldwell-Luc operation, an inferior meatal antrostomy is performed to promote sinus drainage. However, inferior meatal antrostomy has been criticized for its additional operation time and wound, early loss of the opening, and risk of injury to the nasolacrimal duct. This study retrospectively reviewed the results of the Caldwell-Luc operation without inferior meatal antrostomy in the treatment of odontogenic maxillary sinusitis or odontogenic sinus disease.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: The records of 50 patients who had an odontogenic sinus disease and underwent the Caldwell

Frank-ter Haar syndrome is a genetic disease that is transmitted by autosomal recessive pattern with characteristic features such as megalocornea or glaucoma, a prominent coccyx, heart defects, developmental delays, brachycephaly, a wide anterior fontanel, finger flexion deformities, full cheeks and micrognathia. Dentomaxillofacial features of this syndrome are not well documented in the literature. We present of a 21-year-old male with Frank-ter Haar syndrome and some features that may be linked with this syndrome not reported before in the literature.

Using AM-1 cell line, RT-qPCR results confirmed that SNH suppressed the expression of MMP14 and PTGS2 at mRNA level. Additionally, the EdUassay and CCK-8 assay indicated the inhibitory effect of SNH on the proliferation of AM-1 cells.

Acidic (FGF-1) and basic (FGF-2) fibroblast growth factors are members of a family of growth factors that function in growth, differentiation and regeneration of a variety of tissues. Their presence in human odontogenic cysts and tumors has not been previously investigated. This study was designed to detect immunohistochemically the presence of these factors and two fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFR2 and FGFR3) in a cross section of odontogenic cysts and tumors, to determine if they may be involved in the differentiation of odontogenic epithelium or, more specifically, in the developmen
