Occlusal forces and chewing ability in dentitions with cross-arch bridges.

The main aims of this thesis were 1) to study the pattern of axially directed occlusal forces developed during chewing and biting in dentitions restored with cross-arch bridges, 2) to find out to what extent these forces are influenced by the amount of periodontal tissue supporting the bridge abutments and 3) to study the chewing ability in subjects supplied with cross-arch bridges. For the purpose of aims 1 and 2 a method was developed which permits measurement of occlusal forces in various parts of as well as over the entire dentition simultaneously. The method is based on the use of strain-

Novel decision tree algorithms for the treatment planning of compromised teeth.

Multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial strains have emerged and weakened the therapeutic effects of antibacterial drugs. Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) takes advantage of noninvasiveness and deep tissue-penetrating features and has been rejuvenated to combat MDR bacteria and their biofilm-associated infections. To improve the efficacy of antibacterial SDT, we first developed IR780-based PLGA nanoparticles as sonosensitizers for high-frequency ultrasound (US)-monitored antibacterial SDT of MRSA myositis by therapeutic low-frequency US. In this study, the developed shell-core-structured IR780@PLGA nanop

Investigating the maximum bite force and speech intelligibility in patients requiring prosthetic rehabilitation.

PURPOSE: Tooth loss leads to reduced occlusal contact area, altered jaw biomechanics, and diminished neuromuscular coordination, impairing both masticatory function and speech clarity. Edentulous patients often adapt by modifying food choices or swallowing behavior and may experience persistent phonetic disturbances. Maximum bite force affects masticatory performance, while speech intelligibility affects patient communication. This study aimed to objectively evaluate maximum bite force and speech intelligence among completely edentulous patients rehabilitated with different types of prostheses
