In this study Trichomonas vaginalis was investigated in vaginal swab specimens from 234 women attending to the Gynecology Outpatient Clinics with various reasons. Trichomonas vaginalis was detected by wet mount in 8 women (3.4%) and, by culture using modified Diamond's medium in 9 women (3.8%). Of 9 cases only 2 were suspected for trichomoniasis by gynecological examination.

OBJECTIVE: Our purpose was to compare Affirm VP, a new deoxyribonucleic acid probe test, with standard "wet preparation" microscopic examinations and culture for the identification of Trichomonas vaginalis organisms in vaginal secretions.

Ersipelas, a common disease of swine, is caused by Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae. The organism was isolated in a blood culture taken from an infected captive dolphin. The dolphin showed typical subacute symptoms of square- and diamond-shaped skin lesions as seen in swine. It was surmised, in retrospect, that the disease was secondary to a primary pneumonia. The symptoms, clinical pathology and other special examinations, treatment and response are discussed.

A patient with chronic granulocytic leukemia was treated with Busulfan for the three last months of pregnancy. The infant appeared normal except for an atypical tapetoretinal degeneration. We studied the other cases in the literature. All pregnancies produced an apparently normal infant although three infants were small. The case of Diamond had microphthalmia. We conclude that Busulfan is perhaps toxic to fetal retina.

Ag-doped Cr/DLC coatings were deposited on medical grade 316 LVM stainless steel using DC magnetron sputtering. Morphological study of the coating indicated the formation of island of Ag clusters owing to the inability of Ag to form carbides, which is also corroborated from the XRD analysis. The composite coating showcased elastic nature suggestive from the p-h curve obtained from the nanoindentation test.
