The surgical technique of partial ablation was used to treat 34 patients with a symptomatic suburethral diverticulum. Results were excellent: Symptoms disappeared and the complications of urinary fistula and stress incontinence did not occur. There were no recurrences.

The radiographic diagnosis of Meckel's diverticulum in an asymptomatic individual is extremely difficult. Complications of the diverticulum may make preoperative diagnosis possible. A persistent, elongated filling defect within the distal ileum in a patient with chronic blood loss and symptoms of partial obstruction is most likely to be due to an inverted Meckel's diverticulum.

Cancer arising from a female urethral diverticulum is rare, and because of its rarity, a review of the medical literature reveals significant nonuniformity in its management. We report an additional 2 cases of this disease, one of which has an even rarer feature of being mucin-producing. Twenty-six patients underwent surgical repair of a pharyngoesophageal diverticulum at Ochsner Clinic, New Orleans, from 1957 through 1977. The majority of the patients (22) had a one-stage excision with intraluminal packing of the diverticulum and esophageal closure after excision. Of the 22 patients whose diverticula were treated by this method, 16 reported they were asymptomatic postoperatively, and six stated their symptoms improved. A case of a Meckel's diverticulum is described in a young man presenting with abdominal pain and gastrointestinal bleeding. Methods of arriving at the diagnosis preoperatively are reviewed. A false-negative as well as a true-positive small bowel series and technetium scan were obtained in this case. The factors influencing technetium uptake by a Meckel's diverticulum are reviewed.

A 69-years-old male with a juxtaminorpapillary diverticulum of Santorini in the duodenum and chronic pancreatitis is described. The patient had suffered from attacks of epigastric pain during the last 35 years.
