An analysis of the stress levels, influencing factors and countermeasures of kidney transplant recipients in a certain hospital.

BACKGROUND: Kidney transplantation remains the most effective therapeutic intervention, significantly enhancing long-term survival rates and overall well-being. Patients undergoing kidney transplantation face challenges in terms of their physical, psychological and social adaptation, such as anxiety, depression and psychological stress resulting from changes in their lifestyle. Existing studies with insufficient analysis of psychological and social factors and systematic intervention strategies. Intergenerational transmission of fertility in Great Britain: A parity-specific investigation using the 1970 British Cohort Study.

Studies in low-fertility settings have consistently found positive relationships between parents' and children's fertility timing and family sizes, and these persist after accounting for socio-demographic factors. We explore intergenerational transmission of fertility in Great Britain, where socio-economic inequalities are larger and could play a greater role in explaining intergenerational continuities than in other settings. Using the 1970 British Cohort Study, a long-running longitudinal data set, we estimate parity-specific discrete-time event-history models to investigate the role of moth

Energy choices to health outcomes: A multidimensional analysis of risk in BRICS via PMG-ARDL approach.

This article employs a Panel Mean Group Autoregressive Distributed Lag (PMG-ARDL) approach to investigate the interaction between carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), fossil fuel, renewable energy consumption, trade, and their collective impact on life expectancy within the BRICS nations. The research reveals compelling findings. Notably, CO2 emissions and trade openness exhibit negative and statistically significant impact on life expectancy. In contrast, GDP per capita and renewable energy consumption are positive and significant determinants of longer life expectanc

Recessions and health: the impact of economic trends on air pollution in California.

OBJECTIVES: I explored the hypothesis that economic activity has a significant impact on exposure to air pollution and ultimately human health. METHODS: I used county-level employment statistics in California (1980-2000), along with major regulatory periods and other controlling factors, to estimate local concentrations of the coefficient of haze, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen dioxide using a mixed regression model approach. RESULTS: The model explained between 33% and 48% of the variability in air pollution levels as estimated by the overall R(2) values. The relationship between employment

Framing public policy towards a public health paradigm for gambling.

This paper examines the public policy value of looking at gambling from a public health perspective. The manner in which social issues are framed will either expand or curtail public policy debates. The existing and traditional frames for gambling (e.g. gambling as a matter of individual freedom, gambling as a form of recreation) fail to consider research on the social and economic impacts of gambling. Because a public health frame offers a broad viewpoint of society, it encompasses a number of social and economic impacts not considered in traditional frames. However, the existing gambling fra

A behavioral economic perspective on smoking persistence in serious mental illness.

Serious mental illness (SMI) is associated with disproportionately high rates of cigarette smoking. The identification of factors that contribute to persistent smoking in people with SMI may lead to the development and adoption of tobacco control policies and treatment approaches that help these smokers quit. This commentary examines factors underlying smoking persistence in people with SMI from the perspective of behavioral economics, a discipline that applies economic principles to understanding drug abuse and dependence. Studies, conducted in the Northeastern US within the past 30years, tha
