A case of cholecystoduodenocolic fistula following trauma is reported. It is unusual in that the majority of such fistulas are seen in relation to gallstones. The patient was managed initially by total parenteral nutrition and drainage followed by successful operation.

The diagnosis of a cholecystocolic fistula has often presented a dilemma to the practicing physician. Routine imaging modalities to confirm this diagnosis have not proven extremely successful. The presence of a small fistulous tract from the gallbladder to the colon is often difficult to demonstrate radiographically. 23 cases of recto-vesical fistula are described; their diagnostic and therapeutic approach are discussed. The entero-vesical fistula result mainly from diverticular disease but may be secondary to tumor or Crohn's disease of the large bowel too. The treatment needs allways surgery: bowel resection and bladder extraperitonisation. Results and literature are compared.

Fifty-seven babies were surgically treated for esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula between 1968 and 1978. Forty-eight (84%) had proximal esophageal atresia and a distal tracheoesophageal fistula, 2 (4%) had proximal and distal esophageal atresia and no tracheosophageal fistula, and 7 (12%) had a tracheosophageal fistula without esophageal atresia. A case of pulmonary arteriovenous fistula associated with rheumatic mitral heart disease is presented. We have reviewed the literature and no published case with such association has been described. The loud mitral insufficiency murmur hide the continuous murmur of the fistula. The angiographic study demonstrated the A-V fistula. Retrospectively the diagnosis should have been suspected due to cyanosis, slight clubbing, the radiologic findings and the important Qs/Qt shunt. The associated pulmonary embolic phenomena made more difficult the diagnosis.

Current attitudes toward closure of vesicovaginal fistulas have engendered a period of delay of three to six months prior to surgical closure. We believe that such delay is unwarranted, and describe our experiences with the closure of these fistulas as soon as the diagnosis is made. We consider our success to be good and therefore advocate a more direct approach to these injuries.

Examination of more than 30 cases of bronchopleural fistula (BPF), of diverse causes, including 6 following resectional surgery, revealed a distinctive configuration of air/fluid collections in the pleural space.
