A 69 year old man presented with haemoperitoneum due to spontaneous rupture of a hepatic epithelioid haemangio-endothelioma. The tumour was found by ultrasound and coeliac angiogram to be locally advanced, involving both lobes of the liver. The bleeding was stopped by transcatheter arterial embolization. The diagnosis was established 4 weeks later by a Trucut biopsy under ultrasound guidance. The patient refused further treatment by radiation and chemotherapy, so he was observed closely. Chest radiography carried out 3 months later revealed multiple pulmonary secondaries. Despite his dissemina

A dissecting aneurysm of the left gastro-epiploic artery in a 79-year-old woman ruptured spontaneously into the peritoneal cavity. The insidious onset and the later progression to shock is discussed with relevance to the likely diagnoses. At laparotomy the aneurysm was excised.

Atraumatic splenic rupture is a rare but potentially life-threatening condition, most commonly associated with infectious, hematological, ne … d splenomegaly, a large perisplenic collection consistent with a subcapsular hematoma, and moderate hemoperitoneum, raising suspicion of atraumatic splenic rupture. During clinical observation, the patient developed hemodynamic instability, prompting emergency exploratory laparotomy. Intraoperative findings included massive hemoperitoneum, capsular laceration in …

BACKGROUND: Spontaneous rapture of a germ cell tumor (GCT) metastases causing massive hemoretroperitoneum in a patient without choriocarcino … roperitoneal mass measuring approximately 13 × 11.4 × 15 cm and massive intraperitoneal hemorrhage. Hemoperitoneum caused by spontaneous rapture of the metastatic retroperitoneal mass was suspected. COVID-19 pandemic-related deviation from the oncologic surveillance standards combined with COVID-19-related patient's emotional distress and self-neglect had led to …

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical significance of preoperative ultrasound diagnosis and classification of ovarian pregnancy (OP).
METHODS … perative ultrasound were all laparoscopy and removal of the gestational products, and their average hemoperitoneum, operation time, hospital days was 313 ± 278 ml, 57 ± 9 min, and 4.25 ± 0.5days, respectively. While ruptured OP cases (6 cases diagnosed at first visit and 1 underdiagnosed but ruptured after 6 days), the diagnostic procedures was laparoscopy(3/7) …

BACKGROUND: Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) is one of the ultimately invasive procedures for managing a no … included 24 who underwent REBOA primarily. The indications for REBOA were a pelvic ring fracture or hemoperitoneum with hemodynamically instability and impending cardiac arrest. Emergency hemostasis was performed during REBOA in all patients.
RESULTS: All 24 patients had a blunt injury, the median age was 59 (interquartile range, 41-71 years), the median Injury …

BACKGROUND: Thoracic and abdominal computed tomography scans are widely used modalities for trauma patients in emergency department (ED). Ho … logies were 66.7% and 100% for pneumothorax, 66.7% and 98.8% for hemothorax, and 66.7% and 100% for hemoperitoneum, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of rE-FAST in determining thoracal and/or abdominal hemorrhage in stable patients were found to be 100% and 98.7%, respectively.
CONCLUSION: E-FAST successfully rules in thoracoabdominal pathologies in …

Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are vascular anomalies composed of a tangle of abnormal vessels in which one or more feeding arteries are directly connected to one or more draining veins via a nidus with no intervening capillary bed. The adnexa are particularly rare sites for the formation of such malformations. Here, we present the case of a middle-aged woman who presented with spontaneous massive haemoperitoneum occurring as a result of a ruptured adnexal AVM. The diagnosis was suspected on transabdominal sonography and confirmed on CT angiography. The patient was shifted to the intervent

Thrombotic complications during COVID-19 infections occur frequently, and anticoagulants to prevent and treat deep vein thrombosis appear to have a good safety profile in these patients. In addition, haemorrhagic complications during COVID-19 infections have also been reported. Hepatic inflammation can occur in COVID-19 infections as a direct consequence of cellular infection and cytopathy. Spontaneous subcapsular hepatic haematoma is extremely rare and can be life-threatening.A woman in her 40s presented to the hospital with fever and shortness of breath and was diagnosed with COVID-19 infect

Grade 3, well-differentiated, gastric neuroendocrine tumors (NET G3) are extremely rare. Herein, we report the case of a 64-year-old man wit … atment. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of a patient who developed spontaneous hemoperitoneum during drug treatment for a NET G3 to be reported in the English literature. It is essential that additional data be obtained to determine the optimal treatment for this disease.

We report findings from an autopsy case who died from massive bleeding because of splenic peliosis. The case subject was an 80-year-old man who had diabetes mellitus and who was receiving hemodialysis and anticoagulant therapy. Postmortem computed tomography demonstrated massive intra-abdominal hemorrhage especially seen around the spleen. At autopsy, we found abundant hemorrhagic ascites, including a large number of clots, in the abdominal cavity. The spleen had several distinct dark red areas ranging in size from 1.5 to 2.5 cm and showed spontaneous rupture along with hematoma formation on t
