PURPOSE: The purpose of the present study was to investigate the incidence and severity of iridial pigmentation under latanoprost topical us … e with grade II iridial pigmentation. There were 15 patients (10.7%) (10 female and five male) with hypertrichosis in the study group who were not compatible with the iridial pigmentation status. Among these patients, female patients had higher incidence of hypertrichosis than males, but this did not bother them. Only four patients (2.8%) were with conjunctiva c …

A 9-year-old girl presented with slow hair growth and hair thinning since birth. Additionally, she had short stature and abnormally short fingers; genetic testing confirmed the diagnosis of trichorhinophalangeal syndrome (TRPS) type 1. After 4 months of topical minoxidil treatment, hair density and length significantly improved diffusely throughout the scalp without evidence of hypertrichosis. This case underscores the therapeutic potential of topical minoxidil for TRPS, paving the way for improved patient quality of life.

Porphyria cutaneatarda, is the most common type of porphyria. It is characterized by defective uroporphyrinogen III decarboxylase enzyme. It presents with erosion, bulla with milia formation and sometimes with hypertrichosis and abnormal pigmentation mostly on the photo-exposed sites. A urine fluorescence of coral red color helps in the diagnosis. Here, we present a rare case of porphyria cutanea tarda in a 15 years old male who presented with multiple targetoid plaques. Keywords: Erythema-multiforme; porphyria cutanea tarda; targetoid.

The Gorlin-Chaudhry-Moss syndrome (GCMS), was describe initially by Gorlin et al. [Gorlin et al. (1960)] in two sisters with craniosynostosis, hypertrichosis, hypoplastic labia majora, dental defects, eye anomalies, patent ductus arteriosus, and normal intelligence. Two other sporadic instances have been documented. Here, we report on two sisters with a condition with some similarities to GCMS as well as some differences, which could represent either previously unreported variability in GCMS, or it may represent a novel disorder.

We report an 8-year-old child with branchio-oculo-facial syndrome. He showed atresia of external ear, preauricular pit, maxillar and mandibular hypoplasia, mild ptosis on the left side, lacrimal duct obstruction, unilateral branchial cyst, hypertrichosis of the neck, left foot showed mild syndactily of fourth and fifth toes and dental abnormalities. His mother had pseudocleft of the lip which led to the diagnosis. The importance of serial observations in patients with rare genetic disorders is emphasized.

A 9-year-old girl with characteristic clinical signs of Cockayne's syndrome type I (cachectic dwarfism, "senile" like appearance, mental retardation, progressive neurologic and retinal degeneration) is presented. Computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging of the brain have shown a large malformation in cerebral posterior fossa. The case also has unusual aspects: pronounced congenital hypertrichosis and dark pigmented teeth. To our knowledge, these signs have never been described in the literature in connection with this rare syndrome.

Since the 1980s, laser technology has become increasingly popular to treat a variety of cutaneous conditions. Its successful use as an epilator comes with the rare but interesting side effect of paradoxical hypertrichosis. In this review, we summarize cases describing hair growth after photoepilation, as well as studies testing laser and light sources as treatment for alopecia, particularly androgenetic alopecia and alopecia areata. We also discuss the possible biologic mechanisms by which phototherapy induces hair regeneration.

Stiff skin syndrome is a rare scleroderma-like disorder of unknown etiology characterized by stone-hard indurations of skin, mild hypertrichosis and limited joint mobility. No effective treatment has yet been found. Exercises and rehabilitative therapy are important in maintaining the patient's quality of life. The authors present a case of a two-year-old boy with progressive skin hardening since he was eight-month old and secondary restricted joint mobility, diagnosed as Stiff skin syndrome.

Stiff skin syndrome (SSS) is a rare, scleroderma-like condition that is commonly characterised by stony hard skin and limited joint mobility, in the absence of visceral involvement or immunologic abnormalities. Depending on the distribution of the disease, this disorder can be further categorised into classic (widespread) SSS or its newly described segmental variant. Additional features of this syndrome may include hypertrichosis, lipodystrophy, dysmetria and scoliosis. In this report, we present the case of a patient with segmental SSS and we briefly review the current literature about the to…

Tufted angioma (TA) is a rare benign vascular tumor that may be congenital or acquired and generally presents as an asymptomatic or painful solitary erythematous to violaceous poorly defined plaque. Hyperhidrosis and hypertrichosis may be associated. The lesions have tendency to resolve spontaneously, in majority, within 2 years of disease onset. However, occurrence of Kassbach-Merritt phenomenon should be looked for. We present a case of 8-months-old infant with TA over the right forearm with classical clinical, histoptahological and immunohistochemistry features.

A 30-year-old unmarried, heterosexual male presented with an 8-month history of tense blistering skin lesions over the hands. Physical examination revealed facial hypertrichosis and multiple erosions with crusts and scars over the dorsum of both hands. Woods lamp examination of the urine, histopathology and urinary porphyrin levels were suggestive of porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT). The patient responded well to hydroxychloroquine and antiretroviral drugs. This case report calls for a detailed evaluation and HIV testing in every patient with PCT.

Congenital Hypertrichosis Lanugionsa is a rare autosomal dominant genetic disorder, with fewer than 50 cases reported in the literature. It is characterized by excessive lanugo hair, sparing only the mucous membranes, palms and soles. It may be associated with other organic abnormalities and should form part of the dermatologist's current knowledge. We discuss some aspects of the syndrome in question arising from the case report of a 2-year-old female patient, black, with classic clinical presentation, with no other associated congenital abnormalities.

Becker's nevus otherwise known as Becker's pigmented hairy nevus, is a common melanotic epidermal hypermelanosis. It usually presents as a large unilateral patch of hyperpigmentation and hypertrichosis on the shoulder, chest, or back of an adult man. It can be bilateral or multiple and affect areas other than the usual sites. We report a 16-year-old boy with two Becker's nevi on the left side of the face in a segmental distribution with extension onto the oral mucosa. This case is being reported for its rare presentation.

Cherubism is an inherited, autosomal dominant disorder that characteristically affects the jaws of children. The disease typically manifest as a bilateral swelling with associated submandibular lymph node enlargements and usually regresses as age advances. The disease is microscopically indistinguishable from other giant cell lesions and is essentially a clinical diagnosis. The association of cherubism with gingival fibromatosis, epilepsy, mental retardation, stunted growth, and hypertrichosis is referred as Ramon syndrome. We report a case of Ramon syndrome in an 8 year old girl.
