A study was conducted in Chad to estimate the prevalence and the incidence of Trypanosoma vivax infection in herds of cattle from the Lake Chad area. The risk factors associated with disease were also identified. A random sample of 933 cattle from 17 herds was initially selected (January 1999, cold dry season). Diphyllobothriasis is contracted by consuming raw or undercooked freshwater fish and is still present on the shores of lake Leman. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of Diphyllobothrium latum plerocercoid larvae in Perca fluviatilis from this lake. Four to 10% of perch fillets examined in November 2003, February 2004, April 2004 and January 2005, were infested with D. latum larvae. The identification of the larvae was confirmed by PCR and sequencing of the 18S rDNA.

We describe four cases of acute schistosomiasis presenting to the Infectious Diseases Unit of John Radcliffe Hospital (Oxford, England) during a 2-month period in autumn 1997. Of 267 persons tested, 139 (52%) and 158 (59%) had alphavirus and flavivirus group HI antibody, respectively. PURPOSE: This study examined the barriers Hispanic community members face in accessing information about employment rights under Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Although the ADA provides legal workplace protections, Hispanic individuals with disabilities often remain under-informed and underserved, revealing a critical gap in outreach, education, and equitable access to rights-based information. In this work, we present the most spatially comprehensive environmental risk assessment of 114 pharmaceuticals, personal care products and illicit drug residues in the surface waters of Northern Ireland.
