High-power laser photobiomodulation therapy for immediate relief of mucositis-related odynophagia.

BACKGROUND: Mucositis-related odynophagia (pain on swallowing) presenting during or shortly after radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hematopoietic cell transplantation, or other oncologic treatments is a common and clinically significant complication that may adversely affect oral intake, nutrition, weight, and quality of life. However, effective treatment options remain limited, and management often relies on supportive care or enteral feeding. This study evaluated the effect of combined intraoral and extraoral high-power laser photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) on mucositis-related odynophagia. MET

Photothermal-Activated Platelet-Rich Plasma Versus Conventional Platelet-Rich Plasma for Melasma: A Split-Face, Double-Blind Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Melasma is a common acquired pigmentary disorder that predominantly affects women with darker skin types and substantially impairs quality of life. Current treatments are limited by variable efficacy, adverse effects, and frequent recurrence. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has emerged as a potential regenerative treatment through growth-factor-mediated modulation of melanogenesis. Photothermal activation, which combines photobiomodulation with controlled hypothermic conditioning, has been hypothesized to promote a more sustained growth-factor release than conventional PRP. This study c

Effects of Photobiomodulation on Metabolic, Inflammatory, and Neurological Outcomes in Type 2 Diabetes: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a global health burden characterized by hyperglycemia, oxidative stress, and systemic inflammation, which leads to complications that remain insufficiently managed by standard therapies. Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) has been proposed to be a complementary approach, but its effects in T2DM are unclear. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials to evaluate the effects of PBMT on metabolic, inflammatory, and neurological outcomes in adults with T2DM. Five databases were searched until June 2025 (PROSPERO CRD420251083

Photobiomodulation and platelet-rich fibrin in the gastrocnemius muscle submitted to calcaneal tendinopathy in rats.

The study investigated the impact of different treatments on recovery from calcaneal tendinopathy in rats, focusing on the gastrocnemius muscle. Tendinopathy is caused by repetitive overload, leading to structural collagen damage and chronic muscle inflammation. Three therapeutic approaches were compared: photobiomodulation (PBM), advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF) injection, and a combination of the two. Seventy-five rats were separated into five groups: control (CON), injury (LES), PRF (A-PRF), photobiomodulation (PBM) and combined therapy (A-PRF + PBM). Tendinopathy was induced by compre

Comparison between melatonin versus melatonin and photobiomodulation versus photobiomodulation in the treatment of Alopecia X in German Spitz dogs: Clinical, randomized, double-blind, parallel, non-inferiority protocol.

Canine Alopecia X is a non-inflammatory hair loss disorder of unknown etiology that predominantly affects German Spitz dogs. Treatment modalities include hormone and/or melatonin supplementation and low trauma microneedling. Melatonin influences hair growth and pigmentation in several species and presents a low risk of adverse effects when used in dogs with Alopecia X. Photobiomodulation (PBM) is frequently used in human androgenetic alopecia and alopecia areata; despite this, PBM remains unexplored in canine Alopecia X. To address this knowledge gap, sixty dogs of both sexes will be randomly
