With continued improvement of high-resolution multidetector computed tomography imaging, there is an increasing number of unsuspected thoracic findings. A 47-year-old man was admitted to our hospital for septic fever. Multidetector computed tomography showed a pulmonary cavitated consolidation that was partially filled by low-density material and an interrupted rim of soft tissue in adjacent mediastinum, lining an inhomogeneous fat density area. Lung consolidation presented a bronchogram fluid sign with a -40 Hounsfield unit density value, which indicated a fatty bronchogram. Mediastinal cystic teratoma rupture in the lung was derived from a bacterial infection, with the lipoid material pouring into the lung and its drainage bronchus.

Multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) with 64 channels provides to clinical practice an excellent method to detect coronary artery anomalies. The diagnosis of coronary anomalies consisting of origin of left coronary artery in the pulmonary trunk in adults with no history of congenital disease has few reports in literature. We report a case in a 30-year old female patient complaining of fatigue on major efforts and positive scintigraphy for ischemia. The diagnosis was made through 64-channel MDCT and thus it appears that the method can be used as baseline.

Anomalous origin of the left coronary artery (LCA) from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) is a rare cause of ischemia, heart failure and/or sudden death. A premortem diagnosis beyond early childhood is exceedingly rare because over 90% of untreated infants die in the first 12 months of life. We present a case of an asymptomatic fourteen-year old male with ALCAPA diagnosed by multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) angiography, who was successfully treated by surgical coronary transfer of the ALCAPA with reimplantation of the LCA to the aortic root.

This study investigated the prevalence and features of hepatic pseudolesions around the falciform ligament in 320 children undergoing contrast-enhanced abdominal multidetector computed tomography.
