In 1980 we asked 491 women in childbed about their breast-feeding behaviour in the hospital and later at home. For 11,3 weeks on an average a woman supported her baby by breast-feeding, the total breast-feeding-time on an average was 20,02 weeks. Ocular diseases such as Sjögren's syndrome, Mooren's ulcer and acute retinal pigment epitheliitis have been associated with hepatitis C. We report the case of a 35-year-old male nurse with hepatitis C who developed Sjögren's syndrome which was confirmed by labial biopsy. The role of hepatitis C infection in Sjögren's syndrome was recently established, whereas in the two other diseases, its role remains obscure. Although the presence of the hepatitis C virus in the cornea is still incertain, hepatitis C serology in donor's is required before cornea transplantation can be undertaken.

My experience with 230 patients with tetanus who were admitted to the intensive care unit of the Hôpital Albert Schweitzer during a period of four years and four months is presented. We have observed a male predominance and the prognostic importance of age. The survival rate of over 84 per cent that we have achieved has resulted from the dedicated care of our nursing personnel and the collaboration of collegues of various specialties. Tetanus antitoxin, 10,000 units, is sufficient. Diazepam provides adequate relaxation and sedation. Gastrostomy and tracheostomy play a considerable role.
