Birth injury as a nosological entity involves 2 groups of pathological processes: 1) traumatic injuries and 2) dyscirculatory disorders. Either bleeding cannot be classified as cranial injury without specifying its genesis and in the absence of traumatic injuries. Brain compression is one of the traumatic injuries, underestimation of its signs leads to the hyperdiagnosis of fetal asphyxia. The correlations found between the arrangement of periosteal congestion and tentorial injuries and the pattern of calvarial osteectopy help clarify the pathogenesis of a birth injury, but taking into account

OBJECTIVE: To review the obstetric and gynaecological problems in women with congenital coagulopathies.
DESIGN: Retrospective review.
SETTING: Regional Adult Haemophilia Unit, Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
SUBJECTS: All women in contact with the Unit over a period of 30 years, comprising eight with von Willebrand's disease, 18 obligate carriers of haemophilia A and five obligate carriers of Christmas disease. Each woman was interviewed and details of their obstetric and gynaecological histories were obtained and their case records were reviewed.

The surgical management of breast disease from 1978 through 1988 by the Women's Health Center of Logansport is reviewed. Three hundred twelve biopsy procedures resulted in the diagnosis of 59 cancers. Biopsy and mastectomy procedures were performed by the authors (obstetrician-gynecologists). Clinical studies were made on ceftriaxone (CTRX, Ro 13-9904), a new long-acting cephalosporin antibiotic, with the following results. Following a single intravenous injection of 1 g, the transfer of CTRX to the internal genital organs was found to be good. The transfer of CTRX to exudate of the dead space of pelvis was also good. The study was done to evaluate the usefulness of sulbactam/cefoperazone (SBT/CPZ) injection for the treatment of infections in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. In a prospective controlled study 30 parturients provided for elective cesarean section were premedicated either with no specific medication for prophylaxis of aspiration pneumonia or 400 mg cimetidine orally at the evening and 400 mg intramuscularly two hours prior to induction of anesthesia.
