We have observed that patients who suffer from hemiplegia after a cerebral stroke, tend to remove their clothes although it is not necessary to change them while they are in hospital. Not only does this activity make it difficult to manage the ward and carry out rehabilitation, but it also often becomes problematic for home care once the patient has been discharged from hospital. PURPOSE: A new technique is proposed to repair bilateral varicocele using local anesthesia and a single scrotal incision in outpatients.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty-three patients with bilateral varicocele underwent bilateral ligation of the spermatic veins by median transscrotal procedure. The veins of the anterior and posterior pampiniform plexus were ligated and sectioned bilaterally.

We examined gender differences in comorbid Axis I disorders in 236 outpatients with major depression. Axis I comorbidity, age of onset of depression and comorbid disorder were assessed with the SCID-P. Depression severity was assessed with the HAM-17. Eleven male and five female gastric ulcer outpatients as well as twenty eight male and seven female duodenal ulcer outpatients received Proglumide (1200 mg/day) or magnesiumtrisilicate (1320 mg/day) in a prospective double blind study. The utility of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) in predicting treatment response to pharmacotherapy for a group of 54 anxious and 43 depressed outpatients was examined. The frequency of Staphylococcus saprophyticus, formerly Micrococcus subgroup 3, as the cause of bacteriuria is reported. Of 787 consecutive female outpatients with signs of bacteriuria, 173 (22.0%) yielded S. saprophyticus, predominantly in pure culture and in high counts. In the age group 16--25 years, this organism was demonstrated in no less than 42.3%.
