Against such complications, Dai-kenchu-to (DKT) is used, but scientific evidences for efficacy are poor. A high-dose of nerve growth factor (NGF) mixed with ginsenoside Rb1 (GRb1) was encapsulated by collagen and placed in silicone rubber chambers, which were used to repair dissected Sprague-Dawley rat sciatic nerves with 15 mm gaps. Six weeks after surgery, no axons or Schwann cells were seen in these chambers. By comparison, nerves treated with collagen-GRb1 alone had regenerated axons and Schwann cells in their endoneurial areas. We suggest that excessive NGF may not promote but, rather, suppress developing nerves.

Partially purified ginsenoside extract (PGE) and compound K enriched extract (CKE) were prepared from ginseng sprouts, and their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antithrombotic effects were investigated. Adaptogenic agents of hormonal (melatonin) and plant origin (ginseng and bilobil) produce optimizing effect on circadian rhythm of locomotion and on the temporal dynamics of forced swimming in intact and false-operated rats. Melatonin exhibits the most expressed impact on behavior of animals. After the removal of the pineal gland, these effects of investigated drugs were significantly decreased. It is suggested that the pineal gland may take part in the chronotropic activity of adaptogenic drugs.

In this study the effect of Sheng-Mai Injection i.e. Red Ginseng-Ophiopogon Root Injection (one kind of traditional Chinese medicines) on the contractivity of diaphragm was observed.
