BACKGROUND: A 76-year-old Moroccan patient with a medical history of sigmoid carcinoma suffered from weight loss of 15 kg and abdominal pain. Laparoscopy showed disseminated miliary peritoneal lesions, prima vista suspicious for disseminated peritoneal cancer spread.
METHODS: Patient's medical history was reprocessed and compared to recent literature via PubMed.
RESULTS: Pathological evaluation revealed granulomas and an infection with miliary intraabdominal tuberculosis (TB) was proven.

We report a case of metastatic liver carcinoma treated by radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and hepatectomy. Isolated metastatic tumor of the spleen is rare and usually encompass the presence of neoplasmatic dissemination. The most frequent location of metastasis is right lobe of the liver, however solitaire secondary tumor to distant organ such as brain, lung, bone marrow or other might be discovered. This report refers to the 15th case of isolated intrasplenic metastasis from colon and rectal cancer. Splenectomy is a method of choice therefore may be justified in presence of isolated metastatic disease, because of low complication rate, providing potential long-term survival.

A 66-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with left flank pain. Drip infusion pyelography (DIP) and abdominal computed tomography (CT) showed urinary extravasation. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and retrograde pyelography (RP) demonstrated stenosis of the ureter. Left nephroureterectomy was performed. Histopathological examination showed poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma, located in the ureteral wall with intact mucosa and adventitia. After the operation, sigmiod colon carcinoma was pointed out by colon fiberscope, and sigmoidectomy was performed.

Acute renal failure due to bilateral ureteral obstruction is a common problem in palliative care. A 63-year-old woman with Crohn's ileocolitis, complicated by ileal adenocarcinoma two years previously, was admitted for examination of weight loss and fatigue. Colonoscopy demonstrated an area of flat, ulcerated mucosa in the sigmoid colon that proved to be an adenocarcinoma in the area of Crohn's colitis; a sigmoid resection and primary anastomosis were performed. Three children, 30 to 36 months of age, had solitary juvenile polyps in the sigmoid colon and rectal bleeding of varying severity, In all three patients, the polyps were removed without the use of general anesthesia through a standard 100-cm colonoscope used to examine adult patients. No untoward effects were encountered. Colonoscopic polypectomy is an effective therapeutic procedure and obviates the need for either anxious waiting in the mildly symptomatic patient or colotomy and polypectomy in the child with profuse rectal bleeding.
