Larvicidal Efficacy of Chloris virgata Extracts Against Aedes aegypti, Anopheles stephensi, and Culex quinquefasciatus with Insights into Mode of Action via Molecular Docking.

The indiscriminate use of synthetic insecticides for mosquito control has resulted in significant challenges, such as environmental pollution and growing insecticide resistance. In response, there is increasing interest in eco-friendly alternatives like plant-based larvicides. This study assesses the larvicidal efficacy of Chloris virgate (Poales: Poaceae) extracts against Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae), Culex quinquefasciatus (Diptera: Culicidae), and Anopheles stephensi (Diptera: Culicidae), and investigates the bioactive chemical compounds responsible for this activity. Antiangiogenic Potential of Beneficial Sterols from Parotoid Gland Secretion of Indian Common Toads (Duttaphrynus melanostictus) in the Coastal Region of the Indian Subcontinent: An In Vivo to In Silico Approach.

The toxins of the Bufonid toads have been used formerly as ethnomedicine to treat different diseases, including chronic hepatitis, hypertension, and multiple cancers. Thus, toads' venom has a great impact on traditional health care. However, the main emphasis of this study is to identify natural components present in toad parotoid gland secretion and evaluate their antiangiogenic effects. Sterol-rich extracts of parotoid gland secretions were isolated in an ethyl acetate medium from a natural population of Indian common toads (Duttaphrynus melanostictus) from the coastal region (Purba Medinipu

Phytochemistry and Polypharmacological Potential of Colebrookea oppositifolia Smith.

BACKGROUND: Colebrookea oppositifolia Smith. is a valuable traditional therapeutic plant belonging to the family Lamiaceae. It is a dense and wool-like shrub that is mostly found in subtropical regions of some countries of Asia, such as China and India. It has been widely used for the mitigation of nervous system disorders like epilepsy. The active constituents of the plant have exhibited antioxidant, anti-microbial, and antifungal properties, which are considered due to the presence of polyphenols and flavonoids as chief chemical constituents. Flavonoids like quercetin, landenein, chrysin, an

Screening of ABCG5 and ABCG8 Genes for Sitosterolemia in a Familial Hypercholesterolemia Cascade Screening Program.

BACKGROUND: Sitosterolemia is a rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by homozygous or compound heterozygous variants in ABCG5/ABCG8. The disease is characterized by increased plasma plant sterols. Small case series suggest that patients with sitosterolemia have wide phenotypic heterogeneity with great variability on either plasma cholesterol levels or development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The present study aims to characterize the prevalence and clinical features of sitosterolemia participating in a familial hypercholesterolemia genetic cascade screening program. METHODS:

Therapeutic potential of Cistanche against Parkinson's disease via regulating circulating inflammation: Insights from Mendelian randomization, molecular docking, and in vivo studies.

BACKGROUND: Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder worldwide, and no curative treatment is currently available. Although inflammation has been increasingly implicated in PD, the causal roles of circulating inflammatory cytokines remain largely unclear, making them potential therapeutic targets. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), characterized by systemic and multi-target regulation, may offer complementary strategies for PD. PURPOSE: This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic potential of Cistanche in PD by modulating circulating inflammatory cytok
