Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare and rapid progression soft tissue infection. The only identifiable feature is tissue necrosis along a single fascia plane. Because the skin is initially spared, it is difficult for early recognition prior to extensive tissue destruction. Ultrasonography was used for early diagnosis of this infection in five cases. Forty-seven consecutive patients with clinically suspected acute appendicitis were studied at this hospital from June, 1994 to March, 1995. All the patients had received a complete study protocol including: detailed history and physical examination; complete blood cell count with differential count; erythrocyte sedimentation rate; C-reactive protein and sonographic examination. Real time ultrasonography, according to the method of Graf, was performed on 113 infant hips because of abnormal physical findings (ranging from hip clicks to frank dislocation). The objective of this report was to evaluate the effect of ultrasonographic (US) findings on pregnancy management in patients with marker chromosome (MC) aneuploidy ascertained through prenatal diagnosis. From 1989 through June 1993, 15,522 prenatal diagnostic procedures were performed for accepted indications. Charts of patients with MC on amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling (CVS) karyotype were evaluated with respect to US anomalies, pregnancy complications, and outcome. Ultrasonography (US) of the knee in gonarthritis was evaluated with gadolinium-DTPA-enhanced MR imaging as a reference. Transvaginal hysterosalpingoultrasonography (HSUG) was performed using a uterine cannula and Ringer's solution (Kabi Baxter) as a contrast agent in 14 women consulting for infertility. The results were compared with those of chromopertubation at laparoscopy/laparotomy. With HSUG, the uterine cavity was always well visualized, though it was more difficult to evaluate tubal status. MH is a rare, potentially fatal complication of general anesthesia. Halothane-caffeine contracture testing of a muscle biopsy is the only accepted diagnostic test for MH. A previous report indicated that ultrasonography may aid in diagnosis of MH. Forty-five patients with acute scrotal disorders underwent gray-scale and color-Doppler ultrasonography. The aim of the study was to evaluate the role of the US in order to distinguish inflammatory diseases from testicular torsion. Gray-scale with color-Doppler US allows for evaluation of morphologic findings and perfusion and enables accurate diagnosis of most scrotal disorders especially in the earlier clinical observations.
