PURPOSE: Decreased prostatic compliance as a result of benign prostatic enlargement can result in bladder outlet obstruction. This changes the urethral pressure profile during voiding. In this study, the authors propose noninvasive estimation of this pressure profile. In four soft tissue mimicking models of the urethra with increasing degree of obstruction, the authors measured deformation of the wall during flow, using ultrasound imaging. BACKGROUND: Reconstruction of urethral strictures in children remains a challenge to the pediatric surgeon as these are often related to different rare congenital anomalies with various clinical presentations that endanger renal function and should be repaired in young children. Multiple techniques have been described for their repair. Urethral hemangiomas are rare benign vascular tumors with varying size and usually present as urethral bleeding and/ or hematuria. Treatment depends on the size and site of the lesion. We present a 27 year old male with a two year history of intermittent episodes of urethral bleeding. Cystourethroscopy showed a solitary hemangioma in the penile urethra. A 17-year-old male boy presented with clinical features of pseudohypospadias (small penile stump with absent distal penile urethra) associated with very small capacity bladder and bilateral grade IV vesicoureteric reflux following suprapubic urinary diversion for multiple urethro-cutaneous fistula and periurethral abscess which developed as a consequence of inappropriate initial management of urethral trauma. This case highlights the importance of the initial management of urethral trauma and the management of its rare complication.

To clarify the clinical manifestations of prostatic-type polyps (PP) in the prostatic urethra, a sample of 25 patients with PP who presented themselves to our hospital with hematuria or hematospermia was reviewed with respect to their symptoms and endoscopic findings. Recurrence of the conditions was also investigated. The patients were 26 to 68 years old, with a mean age of 48.5 years. Sixteen patients (64%) had hematuria and 8 (32%) had hematospermia. PURPOSE: Few studies are available on imaging the urethral sphincter. We performed transvaginal ultrasonography to examine the muscle in continent and incontinent women.
