A comprehensive perspective of traditional Arabic or Islamic medicinal plants as an adjuvant therapy against COVID-19.

COVID-19 is a pulmonary disease caused by SARS-CoV-2. More than 200 million individuals are infected by this globally. Pyrexia, coughing, shortness of breath, headaches, diarrhoea, sore throats, and body aches are among the typical symptoms of COVID-19. The virus enters into the host body by interacting with the ACE2 receptor. Despite many SARS-CoV-2 vaccines manufactured by distinct strategies but any evidence-based particular medication to combat COVID-19 is not available yet. However, further research is required to determine the safety and effectiveness profile of the present therapeutic a

Nurturing the Mathematical Brain: Home Numeracy Practices Are Associated With Children's Neural Responses to Arabic Numerals.

Disparities in home numeracy environments contribute to variations in children's mathematical skills. However, the neural mechanisms underlying the relation between home numeracy experiences and mathematical learning are unknown. Here, parents of 66 eight-year-olds completed a questionnaire assessing the frequency of home numeracy practices. Neural adaptation to the repetition of Arabic numerals and words was measured in children using functional MRI (n = 50) to assess how sensitive the brain is to the presentation of numerical and nonnumerical information. Disparities in home numeracy practic

Environmental stability and curcumin release properties of Pickering emulsion stabilized by chitosan/gum arabic nanoparticles.

In recent years, the use of food grade natural biodegradable particles as Pickering emulsion stabilizer has attracted wide attentions. In this study, chitosan/gum Arabia (CS/GA) nanoparticles were prepared and their potential use in stabilizing Pickering emulsion and delivering curcumin were evaluated. It was found that CS and GA combined mainly through electrostatic interactions, and the obtained nanoparticles were about 100 nm of size and displayed higher surface activity than chitosan nanoparticles. Fluorescence microscopy showed that the nanoparticles accumulated at the oil-water interface

Bilateral angle closure glaucoma in a teenage girl - A rare presentation in Arab population - A case report.

Primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) usually presents as unilateral and has acute onset. In Arab population, the proportion of open- and closed-angle glaucoma is similar. To the best of our knowledge, chronic PACG in very young age is rare. We share a case report of a teenage girl with advanced glaucomatous changes and, on gonioscopy, had synechia and closed angle of anterior chamber. She was treated by bilateral laser iridotomy and topical glaucoma medication. The author concludes that, even at very young age, in the absence of predisposing factors for secondary glaucoma, the patient should
