Several reports more so from western countries present recovery for alopecia areata (AA) with tofacitinib. In this report, we present the case of a young adult male diagnosed with resistant AA with failed treatment to oral as well topical steroids, minoxidil, and oral troxasalen. He was treated with tofacitinib 5 mg twice a day along with biotin supplement. Hair regrowth was observed at 1 month. After 3 months, nearly more than 90% hair regrowth was observed. No associated side effects were noted.

Propionic acidemia (PA) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder resulting from deficiency of the biotin-dependent enzyme propionyl-CoA carboxylase, which is necessary for the catabolism of branched chain amino acids and odd-chain fatty acids. Although optic atrophy was documented in four cases, no glaucomatous optic atrophy has yet been described. This article describes the first case of a 12-year-old boy with PA showing bilateral glaucomatous optic disc atrophy due to dysgenetic changes of the angle of the anterior chamber.

Biotinidase deficiency is an autosomal recessively inherited metabolic disorder characterized by neurological and cutaneous manifestations and metabolic abnormalities. We studied 78 symptomatic children and found that 51% had ophthalmologic abnormalities.
