A study of 40 localized primary tumors of the pleura in the files of the Canadian Tumour Reference Centre revealed a considerable diversity in their histologic structure. Collagenized, hemangiopericytoma-like and cellular areas were the main forms of growth pattern, with half of the tumors showing a mixture of two or more of these elements. Inclusions of non-neoplastic bronchioloalveolar epithelium were frequently seen in areas of tumor adjacent to lung substance but in only one tumor was there a neoplastic component of epithelial form. Eight tumors (20%) showed evidence of malignant behavior.

Hepatic sarcomatoid carcinoma (HSC) is a rare and highly aggressive liver malignancy. This report presents the case of a 62-year-old patient with chronic hepatitis B who presented with a 10 cm liver mass. The patient underwent a right hepatectomy, and pathological results confirmed the presence of HSC. Despite receiving comprehensive treatment, the patient had multiple abdominal lymph node metastases within 6 months after the operation, ultimately the patient passed away 10 months after the operation due to tumor progression.

Endometrial cancer is the most common gynaecologic cancer and its incidence increases with age. Prognosis is good because in over 80% of cases the cancer is discovered early. Preoperative work-up should include definition of the operability of such patients, who are often elderly with frequent co-morbidity.
