INTRODUCTION: The pathogenesis of sarcoidosis involves tissue remodelling mediated by the accumulation of abnormal extracellular matrix, which is partly the result of an imbalance in collagen synthesis, cross-linking and degradation. PURPOSE: Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) has been considered to be related to metabolic related diseases, such as hyperuricemia, obesity, and diabetes mellitus. However, whether nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is related to RBP4 is unclear. Previous studies on the relationship between NAFLD and RBP4 levels have yielded inconsistent results. INTRODUCTION: Monocyte-derived dendritic cells (moDCs) are antigen-presenting cells capable of directing immune responses toward T-helper 1 (Th1) or T-helper 2 (Th2) phenotypes. The systemic profile of moDCs and their association with Th1/Th2 skewing in chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is unclear. BACKGROUND: Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the most potent ligand to the androgen receptor, is synthesised from testosterone (T) by 5α-reductase type 1 and 2.
