Cationic liposome - CpG DNA complexes (lipoplexes) are known as stimulators of innate immunity via Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9)-triggered activation of the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) pathway. Environmental exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) is widespread, yet their influence on arthropod-borne virus transmission remains poorly understood. Here, we show that bisphenol A (BPA), a common EDC, enhances the replication of Zika virus (ZIKV) and Dengue virus (DENV) in the mosquito Aedes aegypti by modulating host oxidative stress responses. Several drugs are available for mass campaigns against enteric helminths. Mebendazole and pyrantel pamoate are quite effective against ascariasis and reasonably effective against the hookworms. The dietary intake of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) was studied in 14 German children at the age of 1.5 to 5.3 years from the North Sea island Amrum.
