We report a patient who had uterine perforation with incarceration of the fallopian tube after surgical abortion. The diagnosis was made during hysteroscopy, realized after hysterosalpingography, and treated by laparoscopy.

INTRODUCTION: Serous carcinomas are the most frequent histologic type of ovarian and peritoneal cancers, and can also be detected in the endometrium and fallopian tubes. Serous carcinomas are usually high-grade neoplasms when diagnosed, yet the identification of an associated precursor lesion remains challenging. Pathological examination of specimens obtained from prophylactic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomies that were performed for patients harboring BRCA1/2 mutations suggests that high-grade serous carcinomas may arise in the fallopian tubes rather than in the ovaries.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this retrospective study was to determine the clinical outcomes of patients with primary fallopian tube carcinoma (PFTC) treated with paclitaxel and platinum analogue-based combination chemotherapy following primary cytoreductive surgery.

PURPOSE OF INVESTIGATION: Primary fallopian tube carcinoma (PFTC) is a rare malignancy with only few data existing on the impact of prognostic factors.
METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 26 patients. Tissue blocks were reviewed and sections were stained for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), matrix metalloproteinases 2 and 9 (MMP-2, MMP-9), tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases 1 and 2 (TIMP-1, TIMP-2), c-erbB-2, estrogen (ER), and progesterone receptors (PgR).

Isolated torsion of the fallopian tube is a rare cause of an acute lower abdominopelvic pain in adolescent females that is difficult to recognize preoperatively. This is a case report of an 11-year-old girl who presented with a right lower quadrant abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting secondary to isolated torsion of the right fallopian tube 2 days after the onset of her first menses. In this report, the patient's clinical course is discussed with special emphasis on diagnostic imaging and management strategy of adnexal torsion in pubertal and adolescent girls.

A case is reported where displaced non-neoplastic ovarian granulosa cells within the fallopian tube mimicked a small cell carcinoma. This peculiar phenomenon of displaced granulosa cells has been described previously in the ovary as a rare diagnostic pitfall which may be misinterpreted as metastatic carcinoma. This is believed to be the first documentation of its occurrence in the fallopian tube. Awareness of this rare phenomenon and immunostaining for markers of sex cord differentiation assist in diagnosis and in preventing a false positive diagnosis of malignancy.
