Humanitarian initiative among members of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons: A descriptive survey of experiences and perspectives.

INTRODUCTION: Humanitarian oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) is essential in addressing unmet surgical needs in low-resource and underserved populations. Although UK OMFS surgeons contribute to various international initiatives, limited evidence exists regarding the experiences and perspectives of BAOMS members engaged in such humanitarian work. Feeding Experiences Among Caregivers of Children With Down Syndrome in Rwanda: A Qualitative Exploratory Study.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Down syndrome (DS) affects approximately 1 in 700 to 1000 live births globally. Children with DS often face feeding difficulties that arise from low muscle tone and oral-motor dysfunction, making complementary feeding initiation particularly challenging. Despite the role of caregivers in addressing these challenges, research on their feeding patterns in low-resource settings like Rwanda is scarce. Therefore, we aimed at exploring the feeding patterns of caregivers of children with DS in Rwanda. METHODS: We employed a qualitative exploratory design involving 34 caregivers

This study explored facilitators and barriers influencing the feasibility, acceptability and engagement of youths with TSP versus SMHS for depression treatment in Kampala District, Uganda. A qual

The relationship between extended kin resources and children's healthcare utilization: An analysis of family networks.

Extended kin serve as key sources of financial, social, and instrumental support for young children and their families. In impoverished settings, the ability to rely on extended kin for investments, information, and/or in-kind support to access health care when needed may be particularly important in buffering children against poor health outcomes and mortality. Given data limitations, little is known about how specific social and economic characteristics of extended kin shape children's healthcare access and health outcomes. We use detailed household survey data from rural Mali, where related
