We have synthesized triple helix forming oligonucleotides (TFOs) that target a psoralen (pso) interstrand crosslink to a specific chromosomal site in mammalian cells. Interleukin I alpha (IL-1) is a potent agent that induces a wide range of biological effects. In this study we analysed its effects on cell cycle progression and differentiation of Daudi lymphoma cells. Trying to kill cancer cells by generating DNA damage is by no means a new idea. Radiotherapy and genotoxic drugs are routinely used in cancer therapy.
