OBJECTIVES: The 2019 Workshop of the Society for Hematopathology/European Association for Haematopathology received and reviewed cases covering the spectrum of mastocytosis and related diseases, including morphologic mimics, focusing on recent updates and relevant findings for pathologists.

OBJECTIVE: To perform a large and detailed epidemiologic study on restless legs syndrome (RLS) during pregnancy and the puerperium.
METHODS: A structured clinical interview, assessing symptoms since the beginning of pregnancy, was performed to a population of 642 pregnant women at the time of delivery and at follow-up evaluation (1, 3, and 6 months after delivery). Main hematologic tests were also evaluated. A woman was considered affected if she met the International RLS Study Group criteria for RLS diagnosis.

Interferon treatment is known to cause hematologic changes such as thrombocytopenia, anemia and granulocytopenia or combinations thereof. Patients previously treated with chemotherapeutic drugs followed by alpha interferon treatment developed even more severe pancytopenia and aplasia. Case reports of two patients who received treatment with alpha interferon 2a are reported here. Ketoconazole was administered orally to 13 patients with paracoccidioidomycosis. Therapy consisted of 200 mg per day for periods ranging from three to 12 months. All patients improved markedly, with healing of pulmonary, mucosal, and skin lesions. Patients exhibiting the latter two manifestations began to improve two weeks after therapy, and healing occurred within three months. Pulmonary lesions regressed at a slower pace and healed by fibrosis. Mycologic tests have corroborated the clinical improvement.
