PURPOSE: Otsuka Long-Evans Tokushima fatty (OLETF) rats spontaneously become obese and hyperglycemic with age. We investigated whether the development of hyperglycemia would alter the ultrastructure of the corneal epithelium.

We find spontaneous light emission from isolated Krebs-Henseleit-perfused rabbit lungs when the light-emitting super-oxide trap lucigenin is added to the perfusate. Bile salts are natural detergents required to solubilise dietary fat and lipid soluble vitamins.
