Integrated narrative assessment exemplification: a leukaemia case history.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: In the Integrated Narrative Nursing Assessment (INNA), the Evidence-Based Nursing Model is integrated with the Narrative-Based Nursing Model. The INNA makes use of quantitative instruments, arising from the natural sciences as well as of qualitative ones, arising from the human achieving results of standardization and reproducibility, as well as of customization and uniqueness. Accordingly, the purpose of this work is to exemplify the thinking process of and the method adopted by a nurse adopting an integrated narrative assessment in the evaluation of a patient. METHOD: Th

The Role of Role Strain and Physician Authority in the Relationship Between Collaboration Orientation and Nurses' Job Satisfaction.

AIM: This study examined the psychological mechanism and structural boundary conditions linking nurses' collaboration orientation with job satisfaction. BACKGROUND: Nurses may value collaboration even when clinical structures limit how those values are enacted. Yet, existing research has largely focused on observable nurse-physician collaboration rather than the role-related process through which collaborative values translate into job satisfaction. The job demands-resources model offers a useful lens, as nurses' work attitudes are shaped by the interplay among personal resources, role-relate

Nursing in Bangladesh: rhetoric and reality.

In the past decade concern has been raised through independent channels that nurses in Bangladesh do not provide active hands on care directly to patients as envisioned when the British nursing model was first introduced decades ago. The objective of the study was to observe the activities nurses engaged in during their working hours on major medical and surgical wards. A total of 24,587 min of nursing activities were recorded by three observers in 18 hospitals between the hours of 05.00 and 23.00 h over a 3 month period. These were compared with reports of the nurses about their activities, a

The NASA Task Load Index as a measure of overall workload among neonatal, paediatric and adult intensive care nurses.

INTRODUCTION: The NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) is a subjective workload assessment scale developed for use in aviation and increasingly applied to healthcare. The scale purports to measure overall workload as a single variable calculated by summing responses to six items. Since no data address the validity of this scoring approach in health care, we evaluated the single factor structure of the NASA-TLX as a measure of overall workload among intenisive care nurses. METHODS: Confirmatory factor analysis of data from two studies of nurse workload in neonatal, paediatric, and adult intensive c

INTRODUCTION: Healthcare delivery is increasingly challenged by rising demand, escalating costs, and the need for efficiency. Contributing factors such as the nursing workforce crisis, fragmented and excessive clinical data, outdated IT infrastructures, and the growing complexity of care exacerbate the risk of medical errors, treatment delays, and staff burnout. To address these challenges, we evaluated AMIT, a novel digital platform designed to support nursing practice in pediatric oncology. METHODS: AMIT is a web-based platform developed in 2022 and implemented in Q4 2023 in the pediatric o

Use of a wearable remote gait monitor BioIntelliSense Biobutton among residents in a nursing home: feasibility study.

Falls are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, yet objective gait data in nursing homes are rarely available to inform clinical decision-making. We conducted a 30-day observational feasibility study using a lightweight, torso-mounted wearable sensor to continuously measure gait in 16 nursing home residents. Linear mixed-effects models evaluated hourly and daily associations among step count, gait symmetry, foot strength, time, self-reported activity status (active vs inactive), and walking status (independent vs requiring assistance). Daily step counts declined driven

Another Look at Differentiating Nursing Practice.

Designing and improving efficient, effective staffing models remain a top priority for chief nurse executives (CNEs). However, market forces are pushing the need for staffing model innovation. Both innovative and widely debated in professional and academic circles, differentiated nursing practice has yet to be widely adopted. CNEs are challenged to revisit new realities and confront organizational, professional, and culture barriers that are impeding this staffing model innovation.
