The Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score predicts the prognosis in several tumors. However, its prognostic significance in multiple myeloma (MM) remains unclear. Questionnaire survey and body mass control followed by computer estimation of the diet chemical composition were conducted in 30 pregnant women in summer and autumn. Deficiency in intake of meat products, vegetable oil, potatoes reached 15.2-34.7, 24.2-55.8, 55-65.7%, respectively, in the trimester I and II. The dietary lack of fish, eggs, vegetables, fruit could be hardly compensated by bakery foods and sweets. Protein deficiency rose to 25-38.3%, that of fat 19.1-25.2%. Intake of carbohydrates was satisfactory, though mineral salts and vitamins were provided incompletely.

A number of factors limit the usefulness of blood or metabolic profiles. These include sampling problems, low correlations with nutrient intake, inconsistent patterns in disease, and difficulties in interpretation. Despite these limitations, profiles properly used may serve as an adjunct to more conventional technology in alleviating some dairy herd problems. Their use appears justified when feed analysis, ration evaluation, disease testing, and checks on management do not alleviate herd problems. Considerable potential for misuse of profiles exists due to the complexities of interpretation.
