The perineural spread of the cancer through the lumbosacral plexus gives an appearance of 'trident sign' on contrast-enhanced CT scan and MRI. It is associated with adverse survival rates and carries a poor prognostic value.

OBJECTIVE: To compare treatment results in patients who underwent pyeloplasty with and without pelvic reduction for ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO).
METHODS: This randomized prospective study involved 40 patients, all diagnosed with unilateral UPJO; 20 each were randomly selected to undergo open dismembered pyeloplasty with pelvic reduction (group A) or pelvis-sparing pyeloplasty (group B). The nested variant of urothelial carcinoma is a rare type of urothelial invasive carcinoma. It is characterized by islands of discrete to moderate atypical urothelial cells that strongly simulate von Brunn nests and invade to the lamina propria or deeper. Almost all described cases have been located in the bladder. Extra-renal pelvis (ERpel) is a common ultrasonographic finding among neonates who have undergone recurrent ultrasound examinations for a better definition of prenatal renal pelvic dilatation. Ulcer-like projection is an angiographic sign of thrombosed aortic dissection. However, no pelvic manifestation of ulcer-like projection of aortic dissection has been reported. We report three patients in whom ulcer-like projections of the pelvic artery were revealed by rotational digital angiography using the newly developed computerized dynamic stereo-radiography apparatus.

We report three patients with multiple hereditary osteochondromatosis with pelvic CT findings indicating the presence of multiple small osteochondromata. Despite normal appearance of plain radiography in these cases, a characteristic wavy appearance of pelvic brim, which has not been described to date, was clearly shown in all three cases. Spontaneous rupture of a hydronephrotic renal pelvis with massive hemorrhage presents as a perplexing diagnostic challenge to the urologist. The preoperative distinction between this condition and spontaneous rupture of the kidney (Wunderlich disease) may prove uncertain or equivocal despite the application of exhaustive diagnostic modalities. Surgical intervention should follow initial stabilization, and nephrectomy has been the procedure of choice.

Bilateral synchronous urothelial tumors in the upper urinary tract seem to be rare. To our knowledge, only 34 cases have been reported previously.
