We investigated the histology of Duvernoy's venom gland and the biochemical and biological activities of Leptodeira annulata snake venom. The venom gland had a lobular organization, with secretory tubules formed by serous epithelial cells surrounding each lobular duct. Two l-amino acid oxidase enzyme isoforms, Cc-LAAOI and Cc-LAAOII were purified to apparent homogeneity from Cerastes cerastes venom in a sequential two-step chromatographic protocol including; gel filtration and anion exchange chromatography. Among various snake venom components, glutaminyl cyclase (vQC) is one of the least understood protein family and none of its members has been purified or characterized.
