PURPOSE: A major challenge when distinguishing glandular tissues on mammograms, especially for area-based estimations, lies in determining a boundary on a hazy transition zone from adipose to glandular tissues. This stems from the nature of mammography, which is a projection of superimposed tissues consisting of different structures. Diagnostic carotid artery angiography revealed an orbital lymphatic-venous malformation (LVM) concomitant with an intraorbital arteriovenous fistula. Mental health (MH) hospital admissions were investigated in a cohort (N=1184) of heroin dependent persons using linked health records. All MH in-patient admissions were extracted 36 months before to 36 months after commencing rapid opioid detoxification (ROD) and oral naltrexone. Results show that the incidence rate ratio (IRR) of drug-related and other MH admissions peaked in the 3 months immediately prior to treatment. In this work are reported two clinical cases of cocaine abusers with destructive lesions of nasal-paranasal cavities. The clinical presentation and the absence of a positive history of drug addiction led to a differential diagnosis between lymphoma, idiopathic median line granuloma and Wegener granulomatosis. Biochemical and serological examinations did not prove conclusive. The diagnosis was finally formulated on the basis of the documented presence of cocaine in the biological fluids. We report on a young patient with a positive family history for malignant hyperthermia (MH), who was diagnosed as susceptible to MH in our malignant hyperthermia laboratory by the in vitro-contracture test.
