Protein biomarker for psoriasis: A systematic review on their role in the pathomechanism, diagnosis, potential targets and treatment of psoriasis.

Psoriasis is defined as a long-lasting multifactorial inflammatory autoimmune skin condition precisely characterized by delimited, erythematic papules with adherent shiny scales. The conditions are led by hyperproliferative responses of epidermis due to hyperactivation and immature keratinocytes production. The psoriatic skin consists of the thickened epidermal layer, in concurrence with inflammatory exudates in the dermis mainly of dendritic cells, neutrophils, T cells, and macrophages, contributing to the distinct manifestation of psoriatic lesions. It consents to multifaceted and discrete p…

From the Medical Board of the National Psoriasis Foundation: Vaccination in adult patients on systemic therapy for psoriasis.

Patients with moderate to severe psoriasis often require systemic immunomodulatory medications that place them at risk for infection. Vaccination is a proven strategy to reduce infections. However, vaccination rates among patients with inflammatory autoimmune conditions, including psoriasis, remain low. We review the literature regarding vaccine-preventable illness and vaccinations commonly used in the United States in patients older than 18 years on immunosuppressive therapies that are used in the treatment of psoriasis. The medical board of the National Psoriasis Foundation recommends that d…

A comparative study of childhood psoriasis and atopic dermatitis and greater understanding of the overlapping condition, psoriasis-dermatitis.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Psoriasis (Pso) in children may be confused clinically with atopic dermatitis (AD) and, indeed, the two conditions may co-exist. The aim of this study was to determine historical and clinical features that are different in paediatric Pso and AD and to describe children who have features of both: psoriasis-dermatitis overlap (PD). METHODS: Children with features of psoriasis or eczema, or both, who were referred to paediatric outpatients and/or private rooms were evaluated. Data were collected from 170 consecutive children aged less than 12 years between July 2011 an…

Comparison of the Expression Profile of JunB, c-Jun, and S100A8 (Calgranulin A) in Psoriasis Vulgaris and Guttate Psoriasis.

BACKGROUND: Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory, immune-mediated skin disease. Recently, several psoriasis-linked genetic loci have been reported; PSORS4 contains S100A8 (calgranulin A), and PSOR6 (19p13) locus harbors JunB (19p13.2). S100A8 is considered to be a marker of inflammation in a variety of diseases. The expression of JunB and c-Jun have been reported to be reduced in psoriatic lesions. OBJECTIVE: We attempted to assess the role and correlation of S100A8, JunB, and c-Jun in the pathogenesis of guttate psoriasis and psoriasis vulgaris by studying whether any difference of immunohis…

A simple tool for evaluation of inflammation in psoriasis: Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio as markers in psoriasis patients and related murine models of psoriasis-like skin disease.

Objective parameters to quantify psoriatic inflammation are needed for interdisciplinary patient care, as well as preclinical experimental models. This study evaluates neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in psoriasis patients and five murine models of psoriasis-like skin disease based on topical imiquimod application and overexpression of IL-17A under different promotors. We performed a single-center prospective observational study in a German population, investigating psoriasis patients prior to, 4 weeks, and 16 weeks post begin of systemic anti-inflamm…

RETRACTED: Brevilin A Ameliorates Imiquimod-Induced Psoriasis-like Dermatitis and Reduces Th17 Differentiation in Psoriasis Patients.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

Psoriasis is a predominantly Th17 cell-driven chronic autoinflammatory skin disorder. Brevilin A, a natural sesquiterpene lactone extracted from Centipeda minima, has been used as a traditional oriental medicine for allergic diseases for centuries. However, the effects of brevilin A on psoriasis have yet to be established. In this study, we investigated brevilin A to elucidate its potential effects on T cell activities in psoriasis, in animal models and patients. An imiquimod (IMQ)-induced psoriasis-like dermatitis murine model was utilized. Experimental mice were administered different doses …

Genetic counselling in psoriasis: empirical data on psoriasis among first-degree relatives of 3095 psoriatic probands.

The risk of getting psoriasis dependent on the occurrence of psoriasis in the family has been determined empirically. Altogether 3717 families with one or both parents who had psoriasis have been analysed with regard to the number of children with or without psoriasis. The lifetime risk of getting psoriasis if no parent, one parent or both parents have psoriasis is 0.04, 0.28 and 0.65, respectively. If there is already one affected child in the family, the corresponding risks are 0.24, 0.51 and 0.83, respectively. The risk of getting psoriasis before the age of 32 years is dependent on the age…

[Tissue resident memory cells in psoriasis].

Tissue resident memory cells (Trm-cells) function as both benign and pathogenic memory cells. Benign Trm-cells play an important role in adaptive immunity by protecting against external pathogens, whereas pathogenic Trm-cells can induce relapses in several chronic skin diseases, including psoriasis. Early and intensive treatment with biologic therapy can lead to effective, long-term disease control by limiting local memory formation in the skin. However, this review finds it important not to compromise the beneficial role of Trm-cells in adaptive immunity when pursuing long-term treatment stra…
