Treatment for mucosal tumors with extended resection combined with photodynamic therapy: A case report on a geriatric patient.

BACKGROUND: The incidence of cutaneous malignancies is increasing among older adults. In frail older patients, standard wide excision of muc … margins, the patient underwent three sessions of adjuvant PDT. The treated lesion exhibited prompt re-epithelialization with erythema and granulation tissue formation, and no exudate or residual tumor was observed. Serial reflectance confocal microscopy during the 12-month follow-up revealed no atypical cells. The patient's quality of life improved significantly. CO …

Therapeutic strategies to enhance proliferation in diabetic wound contraction: a comprehensive review from 1991-2025.

The global rise in diabetes mellitus has been accompanied by a marked increase in associated complications, most notably impaired wound healing. Diabetic non-healing wounds arise from multifactorial pathophysiological mechanisms, including excessive and prolonged inflammation, immune dysregulation, impaired angiogenesis, defective fibroblast-to-myofibroblast transition and aberrant growth factor signaling. These abnormalities delay wound contraction and re-epithelialization, increasing susceptibility to infection, chronic ulceration and limb amputation. Traditional and complementary approaches…

Fish skin grafts for human wound healing: mechanistic evidence, clinical performance, application strategies and translational challenges - a review.

Marine-derived fish skin grafts, particularly those obtained from tilapia and cod, represent promising biomaterials for the management of ch … cellular adhesion and migration, extracellular matrix remodeling, granulation tissue formation, and re-epithelialization. Their inherent antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties may also contribute to infection control and modulation of the wound microenvironment, particularly in chronic wounds susceptible to persistent microbial colonization. NIR-Activated Eutectic Gels Producing Centripetal Thermoelectric Currents and CO Release to Modulate Calcium-Associated Repair of Infected Wounds.

Bacterial infection disrupts the transepithelial potential (TEP) and dysregulates the wound immune microenvironment, impairing tissue regene … ied by enhanced keratinocyte and endothelial cell responses, angiogenesis, collagen deposition, and re-epithelialization, and alleviated tissue hypoxia. This study presents an energy-responsive gas-releasing eutectic gel platform for coordinating bioelectric, antibacterial, and immunoregulatory cures to accelerate infected wound repair.

Oxygenated Exosome-Based Nanoeyedrop for Mitigating Hypoxia in Corneal Wound Healing: Impact on Healing Properties of Human Corneal Epithelial Cells.

The rapid and organized healing of the cornea, while maintaining optical clarity, is essential for patient health and quality of life following corneal injuries. Oxygen plays a critical role in regulating cell migration and proliferation during wound repair, and the application of stem cell-derived exosomes offers potential therapeutic benefits due to their antioxidant and antiscarring properties. In this study, we developed oxygenated exosome-coated hemoglobin nanoparticles (OExo NPs) designed for effective oxygen delivery to enhance corneal re-epithelialization, reduce inflammation, and miti…

Photocurable Dual-Network Hydrogels Based on Natural Polymers for Sutureless Repair of Large Corneal Defects.

Corneal transplantation remains the prevailing treatment for corneal defects, which is always restricted by donor shortages and numerous pos … on, and transcriptomic analysis reveal that GelMA/OCS hydrogel can significantly facilitate corneal re-epithelialization and the integration and reconstruction of stromal structures, as well as reduce inflammation responses and scar formation. Therefore, GelMA/OCS hydrogel may provide a promising alternative for the sutureless treatment of large corneal defects.
