Cardiotoxicity is a major complication of anthracycline therapy that negatively impacts prognosis. Effective pharmacotherapies for prevention of anthracycline-induced cardiomyopathy (AICM) are currently lacking. An 8-year-old American cocker spaniel dog was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. Four years earlier, the dog had been diagnosed with multicentric lymphoma and had received 4 cycles of multi-agent chemotherapy, including doxorubicin and epirubicin. The total cumulative dose of epirubicin was 168 mg/m(2). Dilated cardiomyopathy was considered a consequence of epirubicin toxicity.
