Stress fractures are infrequently seen in non-weight-bearing bones. However, stress fractures may be present in any bone that undergoes repetitive stress. We report an unusual case of stress fracture in the nondominant arm of a tennis player who uses a two-handed backhand stroke.

In the article is presented the study of clinical aspects and roentgenograms of 91 children with Volkmann's contraction. The causes of contraction with 46 patients were supracondylar fractures of arm and with 32--forearm bone fractures. All fractures were associated with massive injures of soft tissues, some of the persons have injures of brachial artery. Tardy or incompletely dissected circular plaster bandage turned out to be a factor of complication. All patients demonstrated typical clinical aspects of acute circulatory disturbance of extremity, in some of them with skin and subcutaneous f

A stillborn male fetus having a trisomy of the short arm of chromosome No 10 is described. The father is a carrier of the reciprocal translocation 46XY,t(10;21) (10pter leads to 10p11::21p11 leads to 21qter). The clinical picture included growth retardation, bilateral cleft lip and palate, micrognathia, short neck, microphalus and bilateral clubbed feet. The long bones were markedly thinned with spontaneous fractures. Autopsy findings included pulmonary hypoplasia and renal dysplasia. Previous reports of trisomy 10 and trisomy of the short arm of chromosome 10 are discussed.

OBJECTIVE: Description of a patient with a rare syndrome leading to the partial overgrowth of craniofacial bones.
CASE REPORT: In a 17-year-old female patient with severe hyperostoses of the craniofacial bones asymmetric overgrowth of the right upper and left lower limbs, linear hyperpigmentation of the right arm and a history of regional lipomatosis were found. These manifestations were suggestive of Proteus syndrome. The management of the craniofacial involvement is described and a literature overview presented.
CONCLUSION: Proteus syndrome is a rare overgrowth syndrome probably related to

Long bones are far from being simple cylinders, so how is the relative positioning of their various features maintained during growth? A new study shows that growth is isometric and that drift from the correct position is minimized. Read the Research Article.

An MR imaging-based technique for three-dimensional determination of subacromial space width in relation to the rotator cuff in arm abduction is presented. Five volunteers were examined in an open MRI in seven arm positions, and coronal images were obtained with a gradient-echo sequence. 3D reconstruction of the bones and the supraspinatus was performed, and the minimal spatial distances between acromion, clavicle, and humerus were calculated. The closest contact between the supraspinatus and the anterior inferior part of the acromion occurred at 90 degrees abduction in internal rotation. The

BACKGROUND: Internal fixation of diaphyseal forearm fractures has been associated with high union rates and satisfactory forearm motion. The purpose of this study was to investigate patient-based functional outcomes and to objectively measure strength following plate fixation of fractures of both bones of the forearm.
METHODS: Range of motion, quantitative strength measurements, and validated outcome measures-i.e., DASH (Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand) and SF-36 (Short Form-36) scores-were assessed in a cohort of thirty patients (nineteen men and eleven women with a mean age of 43

We describe a 16-year-old male patient who had a major right facial degloving injury resulting in a soft-tissue defect with exposed zygoma as well as temporal and frontal bones. Multiple operations were undertaken in a staged manner for reconstruction. Lateral arm free fillet flap transfer was initially performed with fixation of bones with miniplates, which is followed by flap debulking, lateral canthopexy, scalp tissue expansion for hairline reconstruction, as well as ear reconstruction with costal cartilage and local flap techniques. After a follow-up period of 2 years, a good and impressiv

INTRODUCTION: Immunotherapy in combination with chemotherapy has been recommended as the first-line treatment of driver gene-negative advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but the efficacy is reduced in NSCLC patients with bone metastases due to the immunosuppressive microenvironment. Both nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL) inhibitors and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) have been shown to modulate the tumour immune microenvironment. Therefore, narlumosbart, a monoclonal antibody targeting RANKL, in combination with SBRT, may exert synergistic effects and improve efficacy o

The earliest stages of osteosarcomas are primitive mesenchymal cells. It generally occurs close to the long bones' metaphysis and typically affects the long bones, such as the arm and leg. This case report underscores the pivotal role of physiotherapy in the rehabilitation of a 14-year-old male diagnosed with osteosarcoma, who underwent above-knee amputation. The structured six-week rehabilitation program, encompassing passive, active-assisted, and active exercises for the affected limb, alongside strength training for unaffected joints, produced notable gains in the pain rating scale and the

We report the histopathological findings of the temporal bones and the nasal and paranasal specimen of a 7-month-old girl diagnosed as having Wolf-Hirschhorn or 4p- syndrome (deletion of the short arm of chromosome 4). This syndrome is characterized by growth retardation, mental retardation, and multiple congenital abnormalities, including craniofacial anomalies and hearing disturbance. These temporal bones displayed malformation of the ossicles, absence of the oval windows, abnormal course of the facial nerve with incomplete bony canal, and depression of the cochlear duct and the saccule.
