Some progeny resulting from interbreeding of individuals heterozygous for a pericentric inversion of chromosome 1 in the chicken have the two complementary types of recombinant chromosomes arising from a single crossing-over within the inverted segment. These individuals are capable of reproduction. Their progeny can have one or the other of the two recombinant chromosomes or, if crossing-over occurs, either a normal or an inversion chromosome.

Infectious tenosynovitis was diagnosed in three separate outbreaks in a commercial White Leghorn hens, though not previously reported in adult White Leghorns (3). Clinically affected flocks had decreased production and increased daily mortality, with many hens showing signs of the so called "cage-fatigue bluecomb" syndrome. Most sick birds had lesions typical of infectious tenosynovitis, with pronounced cyanosis and dehydration. Dead birds had signs of acute septicemia. Examination was made of 81 strains of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae isolated from chickens which had died of septicaemic erysipelas. The strains originated from two flocks producing eggs for consumption, 34 from Flock A and 47 from Flock B. Typing was performed by the tube precipitation and the agar gel precipitation test. The current study was undertaken to acquire data on contamination of chicken parts with Salmonella at retail and to acquire data on cross-contamination of cooked chicken with Salmonella from raw chicken during meal preparation. This study investigated the effects of Periplaneta americana residue (PAR) on the immune function, antioxidant capacity, and transcriptome of Sanhuang chickens. Six hundred 30-day-old Sanhuang chickens were divided into six groups with diets of varying PAR replacement of soybean meal from 0 to 100% in increments of 20%. Samples were taken on day 100.
