A 23-year-old woman who presented with blurred vision in her right eye from increasing astigmatism had a vascular ciliary body tumour. After slow growth was documented over a 15-month period the tumour was excised with an iridocyclectomy. Microscopically the tumour consisted of sheets of large polygonal cells with round nuclei and foamy cytoplasm, separated by numerous capillaries, findings consistent with a diagnosis of a haemangioblastoma. A 56-year-old man presented with a left ciliary body mass, anterior vitreous hemorrhage and a subluxed, cataractous lens. The authors describe the pathological changes in the vascular structures of the ciliary body occuring in diabetes mellitus. The lesions consist of a quantitative reduction in the number of vessels and in modifications of diameter and arborisation. Changes include sectoral thinning, isolated and grouped aneuryms and marked tortuosity. A case of ciliary body neurilemmoma is described. This neoplasm is extremely rare in the uveal tract and has been reported only once in the ciliary body. After extensive clinical studies of the rapidly growing tumour enucleation was performed. Subsequent histological examination showed typical features of highly vascular benign neurilemmoma. The main clinical and pathological features are reported and diagnostic problems are discussed.

Angle closure glaucoma is a well-known complication of scleral buckling and it is of particular interest when it occurs in eyes with previously normal angles. Forward rotation of the ciliary body about the scleral spur has been postulated as one possible mechanism for such angle closure. Large buckles were used in macaque rhesus monkeys and histopathologic examination indicated rotation of the ciliary body about the scleral spur as the cause of angle closure. A 40-year-old woman is described with a ciliary body melanoma presenting with localized corneal edema and keratic precipitates. A ciliary body mass was visualized when the pupil was dilated. The mass was excised by corneoscleroiridocyclectomy and was a spindle B melanoma of the ciliary body. There has been no evidence of recurrence of the tumor, and the visual acuity has been stable at 20/25 for the past 3 years. This is the first case known to us of a ciliary body melanoma presenting with localized corneal edema and keratic precipitates.

PURPOSE: To describe the demographic profile, clinical and histopathologic features, and treatment of ciliary body tumors.
STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective, observational case series.
METHODS: Thirty-two patients (32 eyes) with ciliary body tumors diagnosed histopathologically at Tokyo Medical University Hospital between 1994 and 2017 were retrospectively reviewed.

CASES REPORT: We report the cases of 2 women with a pigmented tumour in the ciliary body, one a melanocytoma and the other a melanoma, with different clinical manifestations. The first one presented with decreased visual acuity associated with recent growth of the tumour, as well as sectorial opacities of the lens and subluxation.
