Boil water notices as health-risk communication: risk perceptions, efficacy, and compliance during winter storm Uri.

Winter Storm Uri was a disaster that impacted much of the United States during February of 2021. During and after the storm, Texas and Oklahoma experienced massive power grid failures. This led to cascading impacts, including water system disruptions and many boil water notices (BWNs). The breakdown of some communication channels and the inability to enact protective actions due to power outages, as well as travel limitations on public roads, complicated the dissemination and implementation of notifications. This research examined individuals' perceptions of risk, water quality, and BWNs durin

A people's perspective in nutrition education.

Efforts to combat malnutrition through community education are often unsuccessful, due to inadequate planning and poor understanding of target populations. In Thailand, a child growth and development project is researching and using models of local attitudes to enhance programme planning. Results indicate that nutrition education programmes can benefit from awareness that community members justify their nutritional and health behaviours according to indigenous rather than academic models.

Mental healthcare planning: current and future challenges.

Reforms of psychiatric care systems in Western countries have been guided by several principles such as de-institutionalization, mental healthcare close to the community, and integration into general healthcare. This paper reflects the achievements, shortfalls, and problems of selected aspects of mental health reforms. Despite major improvements, there have also been some setbacks. We consider such analyses to be essential for future care planning.
