BACKGROUND: Spray cryotherapy (SCT) of airway lesions is used to effectively palliate respiratory symptoms related to airway obstruction, but significant intraoperative hemodynamic complications have been noted. Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is a chronic, scarring, photosensitive autoimmune dermatosis that usually occurs in sun-exposed areas. While the face, chest, and extremities are often affected, involvement of the eyelid is rare. In cases of DLE lesions that are resistant to local or systemic recommended therapies, contact cryotherapy should be considered as an alternative treatment option.

A cyclodialysis cleft is a rare disease that is produced as a result of a separation of the longitudinal fibers of the ciliary body muscle from the scleral spur. A stepwise approach is the best course of action to treat cyclodialysis, starting with medical therapy and continuing with more invasive surgical options. We report a case of ocular hypotony due a traumatic cyclodialysis successfully resolved with transscleral cryotherapy.
