Gold sodium thiosulphate (GSTS) in patch test series commonly yields positive reactions. In this study of dental patients, the clinical relevance of these positive reactions, the suitability of gold compounds as patch test materials, and value of the lymphocyte proliferation test in gold contact allergy, were evaluated. The frequency of positive patch test reactions to GSTS was 12.4% in the dental series. Fifty-two patients, only two of whom were male, were studied. Gold catalysts are widely studied in chemical and electrochemical oxidation processes. Three cases of linear lichen planus on the lower extremities unaccompanied by mucous lesions are described. Dental metal compounds were thought to be the precipitating factor in all cases. A case of allergic contact dermatitis due to gold pierced earrings is reported. The patient developed recurring redness and swelling on her earlobes a month after the wearing of pierced-type gold earrings, which was followed by the appearance of reddish nodules around the puncture marks. Gold (Au)-embedded indium tin oxide (ITO) nanowires were synthesized by thermal evaporation of a mixture of In(2)O(3,) SnO(2) and graphite powders on Si (100) substrates coated with Au thin films followed by annealing. At the initial stages of annealing, Au formed a continuous linear core located along the long axis of each ITO nanowire. The morphology of the Au core changed from a continuous line to a discrete line, and then to a droplet-like chain, finally evolving into a peapod in which crystalline Au nanoparticles were encapsulated in crystalline ITO with increasing annealing temperature.

We report a new type of Au@TiO2-CdS ternary nanostructure by decorating CdS nanoparticles onto Au@TiO2 core-shell structures. In comparison to that of binary structures such as CdS-TiO2 and Au@TiO2, these ternary nanostructures exhibit a remarkably high photocatalytic H2-generation rate under visible-light irradiation. The reaction of cow beta-lactoglobulin with Au(CN)-4 is shown to label the free sulphydryl group on the protein by a reductive mechanism yielding a stable complex. High salt concentrations are shown to affect the pH-dependent conformational transition (N in equilibrium R yields S). New heteroditopic, bi- and multidentate imino- and aminophosphine ligands were synthesised and complexed to [AuCl(THT)] (THT=tetrahydrothiophene).
