Fracture-dislocations of the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint are complex and challenging to manage once they become chronic. We report a case of PIP joint fracture-dislocation treated by hemi-hamate arthroplasty. An 18-year-old male polytrauma patient presented with a neglected PIP joint fracture-dislocation in the third finger of the left hand. Solitary osteochondromas originating from the carpal bones are very uncommon; when they occur, they usually arise from the scaphoid or capitate. We report a solitary, unilobed osteochondroma arising from the hamate that was excised, with no evidence of recurrence at the 3-year follow-up.

Trispiral tomography is an x-ray technique that is essential in the diagnosis and management of a wide variety of problems involving the carpal bones and their joints. Hook of hamate fracture occurs in baseball players during bat swing. These fractures are usually treated by excision of the fracture fragment and the players can return to the game without delay. We report a professional baseball player who presented with a hook of hamate fracture. He gave history of undergoing excision of the hook 4 years earlier for a fracture of the hook. CASE: We report the case of a 39-year-old man who sustained an acute fracture of an os hamulus proprium, which was treated with open surgical excision after nonoperative treatment was unsuccessful. At the most recent follow-up, at 6 years after surgery, the patient was asymptomatic and maintained full function of the hand and the wrist.

Ulnar-sided wrist pain remains a commonly encountered diagnostic challenge, and its successful management requires a comprehensive understanding of the multiple conditions that can present with this symptom. Midcarpal impaction syndromes in the form of Hamato-lunate and Triquetro-hamate impingement have both previously been reported as rare potential causes of ulnar-sided wrist pain. Despite this, they remain poorly recognized and incompletely understood. This article reviews existing literature that describes the diagnosis and management of these clinical entities.

Union of proximal pole scaphoid fracture is challenging because the vascular supply is limited. The avascular necrosis accompanying non-union and progressive fragmentation make surgical reconstruction difficult. The present study aimed to report short-term results of reconstruction with proximal hamate in proximal pole scaphoid non-union with avascular necrosis.
