The Fenton degradation of 4,6-dinitro-o-cresol (DNOC) was studied under different experimental conditions using Amberlyst 15 ion-exchange resin containing ferrous ion. DNOC was found to be effectively degraded under most conditions, and it was observed that, with the addition of HCl, the desorption of ferrous ion from the resin into the solution played a major role in this degradation. Carrier-free 7Be has been produced by 7Li(p,n)7Be and 10B(gamma,p2n)7Be (as well as 11B(gamma,p3n)7Be) reactions using a cyclotron and electron linear accelerator, respectively. Radiochemical methods for purification of the carrier-free radioactive 7Be isotope from the irradiated lithium and boron compounds have been investigated. A simple separation scheme is proposed.

The current HPLC method for the determination of carbohydrate-deficient transferrin (CDT) yields ratios of CDT isoforms in relation to total transferrin, whereas the use of absolute concentrations obtainable in routine analysis by RIA and the reference ranges based here-upon is more convenient. We describe a modified HPLC method that likewise gives absolute CDT concentrations by using a calibrator prepared by treatment of transferrin with neuraminidase. Separation of isoforms could be improved and analysis time reduced to approximately 2 h. Iron saturation proved stable during chromatography.

We demonstrate and analyze a novel desalination method which works by electrophoretically replacing sodium and chloride in feed salt water with a pair of ions, calcium and carbonate, that react and precipitate out. The effects of cyclosporin A and caffeine on the active and passive transport of Ca2+ in mitochondria isolated from adult rat myometrium were studied by fluorescent technique using Ca2+-sensitive probe tetracycline (TC). A simple and sensitive method for the separation and determination of isoproterenol from other doping drugs has been developed on thin layers of bismuth silicate, a synthetic inorganic ion exchanger as adsorbent in thin layer chromatography (TLC).
