Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) and angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy (AILD) are exceptionally rare neoplastic diseases, although the former has recently been more frequently reported among certain populations, and is lately a topic for extensive medical and investigational interest. This case is unique in that it describes an association between KS and AILD. Such an association raises the question of a common pathogenic mechanism. The authors believe that predisposition to each of both diseases may be related to acquired immune deficiency which in turn may be induced by specific viral infections.

The cases of 90 homosexual or bisexual men with generalized lymphadenopathy were studied by epidemiologic, clinical, pathologic, immunologic, and genetic methods. The patients ranged in age from 20 to 52 years and had histories of multiple sexually transmitted diseases and both recreational and prescription drug use. Histologically, their lymph nodes showed three patterns: explosive follicular hyperplasia; follicular involution with expansion of the paracortical area; and a mixed pattern of follicular hyperplasia and follicular involution in the same lymph node. The frequency of HLA-DR5 was si…

A patient with clinical symptoms of general lymphadenopathy, night sweat and weight loss is reported. Laboratory data showed polyclonal hypergammaglobulinemia. Therefore we suspected Immunoblastic Lymphadenopathy (IBL), but could not deny malignant lymphoma because of the histological data. However, we determined that this case was IBL because the use of only steroid therapy was highly efficient.

A review of the literature about angio-immunoblastic lymphadenopathy since 1972 Flandrin's first description, attempts to define the main clinical, biological characteristics and clinical course of this disease. Clinically adenopathy, fever, weight loss, often hepatosplenomegaly of the appear as being constant. Hemolytic anemia and polyclonal hyperglobulinemia are the most common biological signs of this immunological disorder. In despite of spontaneous remissions, prognosis is severe. Infections complications are common and often fatal. Transformation in immunoblastic sarcoma is possible.

The general clinical and pathological findings of angio-immunoblastic lymphadenopathy are reviewed and illustrated by a case-report with involvement of the tonsils. Our patient showed all the characteristic signs of this disease, including fever, pruritus, rash, generalized lymphadenopathy and hepatosplenomegaly. Histologically the wellknown triad of arborizing postcapillary vessels, proliferation of immunoblasts and plasma-cells, as well as deposition of PAS-positive interstitial material was found. Laboratory findings included a polyclonal hyperglobulinemia and a hemolytic anemia. Treatment …

The case of a 57-year-old man with lymphadenopathy fever, splenomegaly, and polyclonal gammopathy is described. The difficult clinical course, the short lived response to cytotoxic treatment, the frequent infections, the immunologic abnormality, and the histologic findings in lymph node biopsy and postmortem material justified our diagnosis of angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy with dysproteinemia, a new entity described recently.

Coccidioidomycosis is known to occur around the western hemisphere. In tropical countries, the clinical presentation is atypical presenting with a superficial abscess preceded by respiratory tract involvement often mimicking tuberculosis. Eliciting a history of exposure and high suspicion is imperative for early diagnosis. In the present case report, a man in his early 30s presented with complaints of swelling over the neck for the past 2 months with a recent travel history. With a provisional clinical diagnosis of tuberculosis, a biopsy of the swelling revealed features of granulomas with non-

Introduction: Mediastinal lymphadenopathy is secondary to various benign and malignant etiologies. There is a variation in the underlying cause in different demographic settings. The initial clue to the presence of enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes is through thoracic imaging modalities. Malignancy (Lung cancer, lymphoma, and extrathoracic cancer) and granulomatous conditions (sarcoidosis and tuberculosis) are the most common causes. For a confident diagnosis, the clinician must choose from several available options and integrate the clinical, radiological, and pathology findings. An accurate d…

Sweat gland carcinoma is a rare tumour, being almost 1% of primary skin lesions. The tumour has tendency to spread to regional lymph nodes and distant metastases has also been reported. Their exact incidence in Pakistan is not known. Treatment options are also not clearly defined though surgery is the initial treatment approach as adjuvant treatment has not been properly explored. We report a case of sweat gland carcinoma with lymphadenopathy.

Patients presented with the supraclavicular lymphadenopathy in the medicine department have a strong suspicion of serious illness like tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, toxoplasmosis and malignancy of lymphnode, blood, lung, upper GIT, breast, ovary, testes, and other sites of body. This prospective type of observational study carried out in the indoor and out patient department of medicine of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital over a period of 6 month from April 2011 to September 2011 to diagnose the causes of supraclavicular lymphadenopathy. Patient of either sex, 18 years or above presented with …

Coccidioidomycosis involving the head and neck is uncommon. We present a case of a patient with disseminated coccidioidomycosis and massive submandibular cystic lymphadenopathy unresponsive to systemic antifungal treatment. It is our impression that significant clinical improvement resulted from concomitant needle aspiration of the cystic nodes to decrease fungal load and modification of systemic medication. Although reduction of fungal burden may provide an improved response to antifungal therapy, disseminated coccidioidomycosis is a systemic disease that requires appropriate systemic therapy…
