Comparison of early treatment outcomes rendered in three different types of malocclusions.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the outcome of early treatment in Class I, II, and III malocclusions based on the reduction of weighted Peer Assessment Rating (PAR) scores. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Two hundred thirty subjects (female = 105; male = 125) selected from 400 cases were divided into three groups based on their malocclusions (Class I, II, and III). The PAR index was evaluated prior to early treatment (T0), at the end of phase I (T1), and after completion of phase II therapy (T2). The reliability of overall PAR scores was assessed by Bland-Altman plot and intraclass correlation coefficient. The

Masseter Muscle Thickness in Relation to Facial Form in Angle's Normal Occlusion and Malocclusions: An Observational Study.

BACKGROUND: Various clinical studies performed in adults have shown the relationship between craniofacial morphology and masticatory muscle function. However, the growth of the masticatory muscle has not received such attention, when compared with the volume of studies on the skeletal growth of face. With this background and considering the widespread use of ultrasonography (USG), the following study was undertaken to provide some insights into the relationship between muscle and bone and facial morphology. METHODS: This was a prospective, observational study conducted over a period of three

Therapeutic approach in Class I malocclusion with impacted maxillary canines.

OBJECTIVE: To emphasize the importance of diagnosis and discuss the therapeutic approaches that can be used in the orthodontic treatment of Class I malocclusion associated with two impacted maxillary canines. The opening of spaces for traction of these teeth by means of rapid maxillary expansion or extraction of maxillary premolars was contraindicated in the case reported. Therefore, it was decided to open spaces with projection of incisors. RESULTS: The obtained results were satisfactory, as a good occlusion was obtained, with adequate functional guides, as well as an improvement in the faci
