Fractional microneedle radiofrequency for photoaging and atrophic acne scar: a split-face clinical observation of two devices.

Fractional microneedle radiofrequency (FMR) has been proven effective and safe for acne scar and skin rejuvenation, but the treatment outcomes vary across different FMR devices. The face of each participant was randomly assigned as treatment side (treated with the Peninsula Timerevert Needle) and control side (treated with the EndyMed) along the midline. Outcome measures include melanin index (MI), erythema index (EI), stratum corneum hydration (SCH), sebum and dermal density on all facial sites. The treatment duration, participant's satisfaction score and physician's global assessment (PGA) s

A novel microneedle-based delivery of NRF2-overexpressing exosomes for scleroderma therapy.

Scleroderma is a chronic autoimmune connective tissue disease characterized by progressive skin fibrosis, vascular dysfunction, and immune dysregulation. Current therapies remain largely ineffective in reversing established fibrosis and are limited by systemic side effects. In this study, we developed a novel therapeutic strategy combining microneedle (MN)-mediated transdermal delivery with NRF2-overexpressing exosomes (NRF2-OE Exos) to locally enhance antioxidant, anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory, and pro-angiogenic effects in scleroderma. Exosomes were isolated from NRF2-OE adipose-derived s

Responsive dual-layer hydrogel microneedles accelerate diabetic wound healing via antibacterial and enzyme cascade regulation.

Chronic diabetic wounds do not heal and are often accompanied by infections and poor angiogenesis. We have made a two-layered PVA/CS composite hydrogel MN-CL patch, which has antibacterial, immunoregulatory, and pro-healing properties. The needle tips were loaded with the antimicrobial peptide LL-37 to achieve immediate bactericidal action when the needle penetrates the bacterial membrane, and the hydrogel base contained a GOx/CAT cascade system that could respond to hyperglycemic and acidic microenvironments. This system regulates the local glucose and ROS levels, promoting the transition of

Pop Rocks-Inspired Bubble Driven Exosome Propulsion via Microneedles for Synergistic Wound Healing.

Chronic nonhealing wounds remain a critical clinical challenge due to persistent bacterial infection, tissue hypoxia, and impaired cellular regeneration. Herein, inspired by the "popping" mechanism of Pop Rocks candy, we developed a multifunctional microneedle (MN) patch (Exo/ONB-MN) that integrates antibacterial hyperbranched polymer (HBPLT), mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (MSC-Exos), and oxygen nanobubbles (ONBs) into a single dissolvable platform. The HBPLT component provides potent broad-spectrum antibacterial activity through physical membrane disruption. Upon application, ONBs em

Practical Therapeutic Strategies for Acne-Induced Hyperpigmentation Across all Skin Types.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and post-inflammatory erythema are common sequelae of acne, particularly affecting individuals with skin of color. Up to 85% of patients with Fitzpatrick phototypes IV-VI develop post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation following inflammatory acne lesions. Acne-induced hyperpigmentation (AIH) results from increased melanin production and deposition triggered by inflammatory mediators, while acne-induced macular erythema reflects vascular alterations. Both AIH and acne-induced macular erythema can persist for months or even years, significantly contributing to the
