Navigating the N-shaped path: Nonlinear development of pre-service PE teachers' professional competencies in AI-driven STEAM instruction.

This study investigates the longitudinal developmental trajectories of pre-service physical education (PE) teachers' core competencies within a 16-week generative AI-driven STEAM basketball curriculum. Employing a parallel-group randomized controlled trial in which 80 participants were randomized and 75 completed the intervention (experimental n = 37; control n = 38), the study addresses the absence of longitudinal evidence on how Intelligent-TPACK develops over time by identifying a non-linear N-shaped trajectory across the three core competency domains, with two sub-dimensions (Professional

Improving maternity and neonatal care in England: protocol for a formative evaluation of the implementation of the core competency framework to enhance multi-professional practice.

BACKGROUND: Concern exists about the variation in maternity services across England, highlighted by various high-profile investigations into care failures. In response, NHS England developed the Core Competency Framework (CCF) to standardise training and reduce unwarranted discrepancies in maternity and neonatal care. The current version of the framework (CCFv2) outlines minimum training requirements, targets key areas of harm, and supports multi-professional education while allowing local adaptation. This study aims to explore and enhance the rollout and impact of the CCFv2 and to strengthen

Outcomes Assessment in Professional Programs: Audit of Competency Assessment and the Impact of Reasonable Adjustments on Veterinary Medicine Students' Attainment at the University of Glasgow.

Recent analysis of UK higher education found a 90% increase in students with disabilities. These students are eligible to receive reasonable adjustments (RAs) during examinations. However, research on the impact of RAs on veterinary Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) remains limited. This highlights the necessity to assess current practices of RAs in veterinary education to ensure examinations are equitable and accessible. This audit evaluated RAs in OSCEs at the University of Glasgow Veterinary School from 2018 to 2024. It analyzed the performance of students with RAs compared

Advancing Proficiencies for Health Professionals in the Treatment of Tobacco Use Among Marginalized Communities: Development of a Competency-Based Curriculum and Virtual Workshop.

BACKGROUND: Tobacco-related disparities are a leading contributor to health inequities among marginalized communities. Lack of support from health professionals is one of the most cited barriers to tobacco cessation reported by these communities. Improving the proficiencies with which health professionals incorporate social and cultural influences into therapeutic interactions has the potential to address this critical barrier. In general, training to improve these proficiencies has shown promise, but the specific proficiencies required for treating tobacco use among marginalized communities a

Get on your boots: preparing fourth-year medical students for a career in surgery, using a focused curriculum to teach the competency of professionalism.

INTRODUCTION: Few educational programs exist for medical students that address professionalism in surgery, even though this core competency is required for graduate medical education and maintenance of board certification. Lapses in professional behavior occur commonly in surgical disciplines, with a negative effect on the operative team and patient care. Therefore, education regarding professionalism should begin early in the surgeon's formative process, to improve behavior. The goal of this project was to enhance the attitudes and knowledge of medical students regarding professionalism, to h

Faculty Narrative Feedback in the Vascular Surgery Entrustable Professional Activity (EPA) Pilot is Disproportionately Focused on Patient Care and Medical Knowledge Competencies.

OBJECTIVES: Performance feedback is critical to guide vascular surgery trainees' skill development across competency domains. Workplace-based assessment of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPA) allows faculty frequent opportunities to provide and document clinical performance feedback. ACGME Milestones were previously mapped to each EPA and accompanying behavioral anchors reflect the range of competencies required to execute each clinical activity. It is unclear how faculty use this information to guide and focus the content of their feedback. We sought to identify the core competencies re

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender clinical competence of health professionals in Poland and Spain: results of the health exclusion research in Europe (HERE) study.

INTRODUCTION: Health disparities experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals have been partially attributed to healthcare professionals' lack of cultural competence in addressing their specific needs. This study aimed to assess the differences in competencies and preparedness among health professionals from Poland and Spain when working with LGBT patients. METHODOLOGY: Data were collected between June and August 2024 through a cross-sectional survey involving 673 health professionals (Mage = 33.54, SD = 9.74; 61.5% female), including 273 participants from Spain a

Rehabilitation healthcare professionals' competence and confidence in differentially diagnosing deafblindness from autism spectrum disorders: a cross-sectional survey in South Africa.

BACKGROUND: Early diagnosis and management of children who are deafblind is important to alleviate the effects of deafblindness on the development of the child who is deafblind and their families. However, children who are deafblind are often misdiagnosed or diagnosed late. The misdiagnosis or late diagnosis has been attributed to many factors, one of which is the competence and confidence of healthcare professionals in differentially diagnosing deafblindness from other conditions, in most cases, autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The study therefore aimed to establish the competence and confiden

Knowledge-based Basic Life Support competency and associated factors among healthcare professionals across different hospital levels: a multicenter cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Timely and effective Basic Life Support (BLS) is essential for improving survival after cardiac arrest. However, knowledge-based BLS competency among healthcare professionals (HCPs) working at different hospital levels has not been sufficiently characterized. This multicenter cross-sectional study aimed to assess knowledge-based BLS competency among HCPs and identify factors associated with high knowledge-based BLS competency. METHODS: From March 2025 to March 2026, a cross-sectional survey of 2,017 HCPs (physicians, nurses, technicians, and other clinical staffs) was carried out
